I think you're doing great, PP, don't beat yourself up. I am TOTALLY familiar with the nightmares that follow a night of heavy drinking. They can be horrific, and yes, NAL does seem to intensify them. The worst for me happened when I would wake up at 3 am and have a shot or two to get back to sleep ... it was never really sleep after that, just a weird in-between state in which I would have some pretty scary thoughts or visions. Yikes. Glad you're feeling better. :)

PP, It doesn't sound horrible to me. It me six months of using Nal until I finally consistently drink small amounts. That has been for the last six months, so I am a year into it.

My life is exponentially better, and is indescribably improved. The indifference mentioned elsewhere on this site has also occurred, which is great.
Your numbers are great, and your attitude is good, I know you're going to do great.

In my case, I chose to believe that I would have success with naltrexone, and that continues to be true.

From what I see on other forums, such as moderation management, people trying to moderate long term after developing a problem with alcohol, do not have a very good success rate.

I think the naltrexone skews success strongly in our favor, as just trying to moderate without the phenomenon of extinction does not appear to work very well

Congrats on the AF days, Plant.

One bad night is just that: one bad night. You didn't do any serious harm to yourself or anyone else. Sounds like you have examined what happened and can use the experience for your benefit (and ours).

Thanks for sharing so honestly.

I had a night like your 10 beer night yesterday. I don't like drinking too much anymore. It doesn't feel good at all, especially with the naltrexone. As much as I wish I could call 'cured' after only 5 weeks, I know it's a process that is going to take time. Stay the course, man. We're all in this together!

Week 22, 23 units, 1 af day. I've now completed 5 months on this protocol. The results have been amazing to say the least. The last week of the 5th month was not bad considering how busy I was. I ended up going out 3 times and thats were the lions share of this weeks total came from. 2 times to my favorite bar with live music and dancing. Another time was out with a friend for dinner and drinks. I ended up really enjoying myself and luckily had no stupid behavior to feel remorseful about. It was the perfect consumption of alcohol while having fun. Something I was never able to do before. I ended up drinking 17 beers on those 3 events outside my home. Take out 1 af day, that leaves 3 days where I consumed 6 light beers for an average of 2 beers a night. That's pretty cool and still amazes me that my desire has waned that much. Projects continue to get done. My outlook on life is much better. All in all, TSM continues to give me back my life and I couldn't be happier. I want to ty all for your support and posts. I believe we can do this, so please stay the course and post your experiences. In signing out for this week, Guapo said something that has been resonating in me and I would like to share...

Awesome job PP!! Especially on the AF days. Looks like we are on same trajectory still. I got 2 af days last week and it looks like I will have one this week. Will try for three next week and daily exercise.

Awesome! What's the difference between drinks and units? I use standard drink measurements of 12oz 5% beer or 1.5oz liquor or 8oz glass of wine. Are those different than "units"? Thanks for sharing your progress and congrats!

Yeah, "units" are different. They vary by country. Hardly anybody in the USA uses units -- we just do everything by standard drinks -- but some countries use their units as the normal way of measuring alcohol consumption.

I've always tracked it as 1 regular or light beer equals a unit. Maybe I shouldn't of called it a "unit", but I didn't know better and kept it that way for simplicity's sake. Enjoy.
