If the rat always gets peanut butter, he will press the lever. If the rat never gets peanut butter, he will stop pressing the lever.

If the rat sometimes gets peanut butter, he will hammer on the lever more frantically than if he always got it. If the peanut butter is disconnected from all cages, the "sometimes" rat will keep pounding the lever long after the "always gets peanut butter" rat has given up.

Good summary M.

Update: My keyfob pill holder came undone a few weeks ago and a I lost my nal. Havent bothered to put another one in. Been fine. Been around alcohol plenty, havent been tempted.

Kind of bored because I dont go to bars anymore. Trying to keep busy doing other stuff.

Put three nal in my keyfob in anticipation of a week from hell.

Week from hell occurred, I didnt drink. If I didnt drink that week, Im pretty much done with drinking. I had every excuse to, including my wife telling me that no one would think any less of me for going out in the evening and drinking.

A week or so shy of 5 months since last drink. Since I started TSM, I have had 12 drinks over 10 months. Damn. Never though Id end up here.

Am getting ever so slightly tempted again though. Might be time for a refresher course. Really dont want to find out how much i have lost my tolerance to the side effects of nal though.

Took a nal tonight after a really long 15hr workday.

Poured myself a sizable glass of wine. Probably not going to finish it.

Hoping for no cravings tomorrow.

Year in review:

One year, Six pills, 11 drinks.

I think i have settled into a pattern of a nal every few months when the cravings return. At the moment I have a profound lack of craving. I dont count the days anymore, in fact i had forgotten I haed a drink in sept until i logged in here and checked my thread.

Over the past year I have lost around 15lbs with very low effort.

Job has gotten better and my motivation overall is greatly improved.

Never thought Id be a near teetotaller. Go figure.

Good luck to all.

Congratulations sideeffect12.

Melissa - your analogy was brilliant:

Quote:
If the rat always gets peanut butter, he will press the lever. If the rat never gets peanut butter, he will stop pressing the lever.

If the rat sometimes gets peanut butter, he will hammer on the lever more frantically than if he always got it. If the peanut butter is disconnected from all cages, the "sometimes" rat will keep pounding the lever long after the "always gets peanut butter" rat has given up.
