Before TSM, when I would drink alcohol, I would get something like a fever. I would feel like I was burning up and others could feel it too. I notice that I no longer get this when drinking on Nal. Just another good thing about it for me!

I find this odd, because flushing is caused by a build-up of acetaldehyde (a toxic byproduct of alcohol metabolism) and naltrexone doesn't help alcohol metabolize more quickly.

I used to get a mild "Asian flush," but when I took antabuse and drank it was insane. There are people (mostly Asians) who don't metabolize alcohol very well at all and are therefore at decreased risk for alcoholism because they have the equivalent of natural antabuse.

I wonder if you're no longer getting the flush simply because you are drinking more slowly and allowing your body to metabolize it. Interesting.

Drinking more slowly could be it. I'm not sure. I do know that none of my friends could relate to this heat I would feel. But they also can't relate to the insane 'high' I get from alcohol.
