I just started wearing a med alert wristband for NAL. I am in excellent health, but do a lot of bicycle riding, and should something bad happen out there, I thought it would be a good idea.
Anyone else out there doing the same?

I wouldnt wear one, i dont want to explain.

I know the dangers of taking opiates then nal, but is taking nal then opiates dangerous beyond the opiates not working?

I guess worst case scenario would be -- you are in terrible bike accident, you go to ER unconscious so they intubate you. You're on sedation (e.g. propofol) and an opiate pain medicine on a drip. You are in a terrible dream state of suffering and pain for days. Or, you're intubated and NOT on sedation and so are awake getting opiates. Despite your attempts to communicate, they keep giving you morphine. Oh, the agony!!

Both scenarios, of course, are highly unlikely (but possible). At the least, one's spouse or significant other should be aware that you're on Naltrexone. Or, you could tape something onto your license because if you're in an accident, the first thing they'll fish for in your stuff is your driver's license so they can start running up your bill!

I would think a bracelet would be a good thing if (a) you don't mind discussing why you're on Naltrexone -- personally, I don't mind and like to promote TSM when possible, although pretty much nobody except my wife and about 4 others know I took it; at some jobs, etc... it could be detrimental ("Bob's on alcoholic meds." "Oh, I've heard of those. They make you throw up when you drink." "Man, that dude's an alky."), (b) you have a high risk lifestyle involving imminent trauma.

Interesting.

From what I understand, it should only be an issue if you are in a terrible accident where you are both conscious but unable to communicate in the 4 hours after taking the naltrexone, right? Would the previous day's dose still be a problem on a morning bike ride?

Maybe it would be a good idea to write "I took 50 mg of naltrexone at 4:00 yesterday" on a post-it note before going out.

I keep a card in my wallet with all of my scripts. I bought the card on Amazon.

Yes. I wear a med ID from the time I take Naltrexone until 24 hours after. I'm an anxious person anyway, and you just don't know what might happen.

I just cut the label off the box the nal came in and put it on top of my drivers license in my wallet.

I have a note taped to the back of my driver's license, but am considering a bracelet.
