I have a sort-of invitation to go on a radio show to talk about TSM. It's broadcast in Boston and podcast everywhere else. It's possible that nothing will come of it, but we'll see.

That would be awesome...fingers crossed! Imagine how many people could benefit from even a 5 minute discussion about NAL. Good luck!

Tentatively scheduled for June. One hour of solid TSM discussion. Details TBD.

Kinda exciting.

June's already booked solid, but I'm good for July 9th.

This is pretty cool. Thousands of people will hear the radio broadcast, and I don't know how many more will catch the podcast version. Wouldn't it be great if I could get some people to try this?

What points should I make sure to get across? I'll have a whole hour, but a lot of that will be radio banter. It's not like an hour-long lecture.

I really think you should stress that although drinking units are reduced almost immediately, the cure could take several months.

Yeah, definitely. So many people think it "doesn't work" because it isn't instant.

On a similar note, that taking alcohol is a vital part of it.

A third is that it doesn't work for everyone.

I'm undecided about online pharmacies. The official no-liability position is always talk to a doctor, never take medicine without consulting a doctor, etc. . . . but most of us here didn't talk to a doctor.

Yeah, official line is talk to a dr. Maybe find out if there are symphetic doctors in the area, put a list on your blog.

That's what we're all looking for, isn't it? Lots of sympathetic doctors.

You're probably right about "in the area." Now that I think about it, most people who hear it are probably listening to the local broadcast and not the podcast.

Here in Dallas where I am there is a local show called "Think" that has hour-long interviews with mostly authors though also with other persons relevant to topics of interest.

I have already emailed the host regarding NAL/TSM in hopes of a follow up show to one recently aired in which an expert spent his whole hour shining a bright light on both the ubiquity and utter failure of AA.

Do look it up and forward your show to this host as well.

Or don't look it up, just forward :)

Subject: Topic Suggestion for Future Show - Alcoholism treatment revisited
To: think@kera.org

Hello Kris,

I recently heard one of your shows concerning alcoholism, Rethinking Rehab April 14, 2014, and would like to suggest a follow up book on the matter of alcoholism you may wish to incorporate in a future show.
This is a very, very little known treatment modality and yet has the benefit of incontrovertible double-blind science behind it. It pains me to know that this information exists and yet remains utterly invisible in the face of the rehab industrial complex your previous guest so roundly demolished in that prior show. How little known this is is exemplified by even that person apparently being unaware of the Sinclair Method - for he surely would have discussed it had he been aware!

Should you desire to run with this topic, I would be very grateful if you could spare a moment to email me and let me know of its air date as I am not always fortunate enough to be able to listen to your broadcast.

Cheers,

Melissa,

I just joined the site and have been on NAL since Feb 15, 2014. It has worked wonders! I now drink a couple of glasses of wine instead of a couple of bottles in a session.

In preparation for your July 9th interview, you should take a look at the May 14th edition of the Journal of American Medical Assoc (JAMA) Dr. Daniel Jonas of the Univ of N Carolina at Chappel Hill published a meta-analysis that pulled together 120 various studies. The bottom line point and conclusion was that Naltrexone is under-utilized in the medical community and is effective! National Public Radio did a story around the same time in May about the article. here's the link to the NPR story online. I don't have access to the full study published in JAMA - you have to subscribe to JAMA to see it, but I am trying to see if I can get someone to get it for me. The full article might be too technical and scientific for me, but I would like to see it.

Good luck with the interview and if I come across anything else that might help I will let you know. I am in Houston TX. I have been looking for a Sinclair live support group here, but there are none to be found. Maybe I'll start one someday. My husband and adult children are not at all supportive of the method, although they begrudgingly acknowledge there has been much improvement in the amount I drink.
