Ended up having a few cans last night. They tasted absolutely disgusting. I had 2 over what must have been 3 hours. I then opened the 3rd out of what must have been pure habit. It sat there this morning mostly full.

Things seem to have worked right off the bat for me. The Naltrexone seems to be totally taking any enjoyment out of drinking. I'm really gonna try and shoot for as many Af days as possible this time round. Last time I just drank when I felt like it, maybe even more so to try and speed things up. I'm not really rushing towards anything this time. As long as my drinking is within healthy limits I'm happy enough.

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to the thread! Does opoids mean the same as ***-pams? Because I have a lot of sleeping troubles I try to keep the alcohol to sleep down, but sometimes use in case of emergency a oxazepam.

As far as I Googled, it is not the same (and I am supposed to know as being a psychologist, but working as a marketeer :-)). But I want to keep myself safe from any harm and of course also not get used to pams.

Good luck with your second try, I had contact by Facebook with Claudia christian recently and she replied me immediately! Read her book or watch a YouTube link with an interview with her for extra inspiration.

Best of luck!

Thessa

Hi,

Oxazepam is a Benzodiazepine. Opiates are pain killers. They work on the same receptor that Nal works on, so Nal and opiates are a big no no.

Just a quick update. I had a drink on Saturday with no Nal :( I know I said I'd never break the golden rule again but I had none on me. It really hit home that its not gonna be all smooth sailing. Anyway, it wasn't too bad I didn't over do it and I don't think I've done to much damage as I was only a week in.

I had a drink last night and the night before. Both time around 5 light beers over around 6 hours a piece. "Under control" both times.

I think the moral of this post is... Always keep some pills on you.

Search on ebay for "keychain pill holder".

I have one on my keychain, silver so when it gets scratched it doesn't look bad, and no one has even asked what it is. Throw some pills in there with a cotton ball and you are good to go.

Yep. I have some pills in my purse, and I don't even drink any more.

I recall Dr. Eskapa's book saying something about keeping pills "everywhere" -- in your purse or wallet, in your car, at work, at your best friend's house, at the gym, anywhere you might have the notion to have a drink. I didn't go that far, since I almost always drank at home and I always had my purse with me, but it's hard to see how it could hurt.

I imagine a time, years from now, when bars and liquor stores sell OTC packets of powdered nal.

Well, they'd have to be OTC if bars and liquor stores sold them. They don't have pharmacy licenses.

What would be wrong with OTC naltrexone? It's hard on the liver, sure, but so is Tylenol, and Tylenol is in every Rite Aid.

To my knowlegde, no one has tripped off tylenol. Also, sending people into immediate, hit the wall, opiate withdrawal.

Thats not to say that nal isnt a game changer. It is. Its also worthy of respect and care.
