According to 'the book', I should almost be 'cured' as I am coming up to 3 months.

It says 3-5 months, so you're still within its range. Many people find that it takes longer than five months anyway, so as long as you're seeing real progress I wouldn't worry.

I have just counted up all the drinks I didn't drink over the last 11 weeks. Over 300 of them. That equals around 40 bottles of wine ($400) and 24000 calories. Take away the $100 I've spent on Nal and I am $300 up and 4lbs lighter. Bloody brilliant!

Wow, that's a really great idea. And, yes, it's awesome! :D

Some people say that alcohol with Nal now tastes disgusting, but I haven't found that to be the case. Like you, I can now enjoy a glass or two with a meal without any desire for more. I was at a party at the weekend when I had 2 glasses of Prosecco, enjoyed them both, and then naturally switched to water. Happy days :)

I find that cheap wine tastes even cheaper. No subtle flavours. But good wine still tastes really good still - especially with good food.

Another thing is coming to the fore. I have a small wine allergy - stuffy nose etc the next morning. Red wine (my favourite) is doubly bad and I haven't really drunk any in a year or so. But the yummy wine I had was a red and because I only had a glass, my allergic reaction was hardly noticeable. TSM means I can enjoy a lovely red once in a while (in great moderation) without too many allergic effects. Another benefit of this program.

Glad you are going well too, Ruthy.

And thank goodness for this forum! I as part of my prescription protocol in Australia I am meant to be seeing a counsellor while on Nal. My local counsellor is a bit of a drinker, tobacco smoker and pot head (!!) and she is not much help with my substance abuse. But this forum is the best! My doctor recognises the psychological benefit of this forum and thus counts it as the counselling component of my prescription.

So, if you'd all like to send a bill, I'll see if my single-payer health insurance will pay for your assistance...

Hey K3510 I had the same experience a few weeks ago with the red wine. That is my alcohol of choice but I drink really cheap stuff (Dh is quite the cheap-skate!). We were out for dinner and I chose a lovely red that I would never be able to afford at home - but after a few sips my nose got really stuffy! I recognized immediately that the crap I drink at home (home-made) really doesn't have all the 'good' stuff in it at all.

But the 'good' stuff surely does  My face got flushed as well - so not a great experience after all even though the taste was great.

It is so difficult with our tipple of choice, or even substituting another tipple for it. They can be pleasurable to drink/eat/do!

You sound like you are really working the program well, with the usual bumps in the road. Oh, and that counsellor sounds like a doozie. Also sounds like someone who should be reported!!!
