Hi barryb. I'm sorry you are going through such a tough time emotionally. I've just read a terrific book that is helping me address some of my own issues.

"The Heart of Addiction" by a psychiatrist/addiction therapist from Harvard - Lance Dodes. It really opened my mind about my own addictions and what to do about the 'real' root causes.

It also helped answer the question Melissa asked: what to do when we no longer use our drug of choice?

28 days AF today! Whoop Whoop. No Naltrexone! Whoop Whoop. Zero emotional outbursts all month! Whoop Whoop!

No cravings, only the slightest urge to drink once this weekend, it passed very quickly. Tomorrow starts my "new world record" since I was 19 (last March I went 28 days AF in my third month on TSM). At age 19, some 25 years ago  , I had a big religious conversion (Catholic Charismatic action) and went a whole year without drinking. I started regular drinking at age 12 or so. I didn't even touch communion wine, and still don't to this day.

I'm definitely NOT going to celebrate by rewarding myself with alcohol. I'm treading very carefully at this point but feeling like a champ.

That's great, Barry. I'm really glad to hear that.

We need some kind of applause icon.

Way to go Barry! It sounds like you are off and running. I hope that this new state of mind gives you the clarity to tackle some of the other issues that you are facing. Take it slow and make don't do anything rash. You've been married for a long time. Don't let that go without a fight!

Hey barryb,
Congratulations on the AF run! (oh, and that vegas thing too). I did manage a 30 day AF run and a 46 day AF run (2013 lent) that really helped get my drinking under control. Hope things continue to improve for you.

Started TSM Aug 2012. Had some success but over time the Nal SEs were so awful that stopped taking Nal. Managed a 30 day (Sept 2012) and 46 day (Feb/Mar 2013) AF period which also contributed to getting drinking under control.
