Melissa1928, Please allow open debate on your blog. So many TSM pushers do not.

For me I worry very much about blocking Opiate Receptors. Firstly, if one is in an accident and needs Morphine it will not work and one will remain in pain. Also, if Opiate Receptors are blocked too often the brain develops more Opiate Receptors - don't know if that is a good thing.

Do you have any studies to cite? Everything, including the null hypothesis (remaining a drinker), has risk.

And, judging by the number of heavy drinkers on here (correllation not imply causation) who have to up the dose to get an effect, either some are born with more receptors or drinking helps develop them. But thats pure conjecture based on a small, self selected sample (aka, scientifically worthless, except possibly as a hypothesis to test).

Yep, there is a risk of needing painkillers and nit being able to get them. However, please note that many of us on here preach abstinence when you are able. Abstinence is no nal no problem.

Go look for the info yourself, you do have a computer. If you look up how blocking Opiate Receptors you will find info on how the brain increases the amount you have. Might also be in Dr Escapa's book. Anyway my main computer is broken and I'm only got access to a tiny tablet computer that seems to make cut and pasting of links very hard.

I plan to.

I would block spammers, of course. I would probably also block anyone who just won't knock off the zealotry -- if someone posts "anything but AA is dangerous" over and over again, enough is enough. I have no problem with differing views, though. Exchanging ideas and increasing each other's information is how we grow mentally.

The first one could be a real concern, but it could be addressed with a MedAlert bracelet saying that you take an opiate blocker and need non-opioid pain relief.

The second one I'd have to research more.

BTW, folks, you can post comments anonymously if you wish. I didn't realize until today that I hadn't turned anonymous commenting on.

That's what I get for putting content first. :)

Hey folks,

I'm seeking comments on this particular post:

Because all of our experiences are so different, I'd like to know what your experience of alcohol and pleasure is like.

Hmm, I'm not sure this is worth the effort I'm putting in. If it were useful, it probably would have attracted more of an audience by now.

Maybe it's just not high enough in Google search results yet? Or maybe it's not as helpful as I was hoping.

Ok, I hopped on over. Having content is key to search engines, but so are headlines that grab you. Headlines, for example here's some alternates for the aa article.

"Alcoholics Anonymous Will Kill You"
"Learn to Binge Drink at AA"

That and it takes a long time to build a following.
