First two days I took 25mg of Nal at 17.00 to prepare for "cocktail hour" at 6... No obvious side effects, except for a little spaciness but Monday and Tuesday evening I only drank around 2.5 large glasses of wine.

Wednesday was my first full 50mg dose and it left my tongue feeling a little weird and I definitely noticed the spaciness! Still only drank 2.5 glasses.

2 bottles of wine lasted me three days, compared to my usual bottle and a half a day...

That's awesome! Let's hope it's more than just a honeymoon -- but even if it is a honeymoon, it's a rip-roaring start.

Thanks, Melissa!

Well I'm half way through week 2 and doesn't time fly... I have been averaging 2/3 - 3/4 of a bottle of wine daily. No drinking before 6pm and never more than the 3/4... Wow!!!

That's great. You've dropped almost half the drinking in just days. Good for you.

I should have asked you where you get your meds from, Ruth. ADC or River? Do you take Naltima? I have ben reading up on problems with Nodict...

I just started yesterday. I'm in Lincolnshire. I bought mine over the counter in Spain last week without a script! That's why I went.

Clinic 158 in Glasgow will do over the phone. £98 for 1st month £78 thereafter. Dr McCall does the consultation on the phone and they post the stuff from dickson's in Glasgow.

Look on the sinclair method FB page. There may be a cheaper option being announced by Joanna.

Mike bought his in Spain. I also bought some for 2 friends!

Nodict is time release and not ideal!

Good luck....I feel sick at the moment....but better than a hangover!!

ps We're trying to get it from Addaction in Lincs on the NHS.

Have you had any luck with Addaction in Lincoln? I have an appointment with them in the new year. Do they promote/support TSM? Or do they insist on abstinence before they will prescribe Nal?

Yes, both Neil and I got a script from Dr Julian. We had to go to Lincoln to see him, and he wants a follow up in January. After that, he will arrange for out scripts to go to Grantham and Spalding.

He's lovely, forward thinking and knows of TSM too.

We just had to take a liver function test, which was OK. If your liver is dodgy he may prefer Nalmefene, but he will talk it through with you first. He also told me they were having good results with Baclofen so all is not lost.

NAL will work for me, I can feel it already, but I'm taking my time especially since it's Christmas. I'm not obsessed and not drinking as quick, and, it just does not quite tast the same, and no buzz. I get the sleepiness though, but I like that as I get relaxed.

You won't have a problem with Dr Julian. Just make sure it is him you see.

Good luck and keep me posted please> XX

Thanks for letting me know. That's really put my mind at rest.

I can't wait to get started. Alcohol has been controlling my life for far too long. (The same with my brother and my father when he was alive, supporting the genetics theory).

Have a Happy Christmas and I'll be sure to keep you posted in the new year! :)

He is under no jurisdiction to supply the prescription, he is very kind and does seem to have an interest in alcohol problems.

Just stick to the golder rule of TSM......one hour before....Claudia Christian can't impress that enough.

We are also on The Sinclair Method page on Facebook. There is a lot of info on there, and I've made a few friends fairly locally.

Neil and Joanna. Joanna is doing so well, she's hardly drinking at all....and her admission, SHE can hardly believe herself!!!

I've taken my NAL already today, waiting for my Buck's fizz!! It's my birthday.....but, I know I will not get hammered...as usual!!!!

You have a nice Christmas too, knowing the new year will bring a new you!! XX
