Ives,

Thanks for the recommendation. I have been going back and forth between 25 mg and 50 mg. I take 25 mg when I only consume small amounts (8 oz of liquor, as if that's small). I have managed to move to smaller amounts for the most part. What I have yet to achieve is more AF days. I am going to take your advice and try 62.5 mg and see what happens.

JMS,
Ives suggestion to increase to 62.5 or even 75mgs may work out well for you. At the very least I think you should take 50mgs, as 25mgs isn't enough to block the effect of the alcohol. I take 50mgs regardless of how much I drink...even if I'm only having a small (4oz) glass of wine. You really don't want any getting through as your brain will still be getting reinforcement and that keeps it craving. Let us know how you get on with the increased dosage and good luck.
Ruth.

Good Afternoon,

Another week in the books and I seem to be making some slight progress each week. I went over the six month threshold a few days ago. Last week I played in a golf tournament and had way too much (lots of units) fun during and after the event. Needless to say, I sprayed shots to all fields. Thankfully it was a scramble and I had some solid teammates to carry the day. That sort of skewed my numbers for the week. If I hadn't done that I would have been down for the week.

I increased my dosage to 62.5 mg per session a few days ago and that is causing a major difference. I have already noticed that my desire to drink has been curbed substantially over the last few days. I'm still thinking about it, but my desire to act on those thoughts has been lessened. Again, that is not what I expected from TSM. I expected the thoughts to diminish which would lead to a reduction in drinking. Perhaps that is coming. I certainly hope so. I am also getting that stretchy feeling where I want to stretch like I just woke up in the morning, all the time. I hope that this increase continues to make a significant difference. Today is an AF day and I hope that tomorrow is another one. Thanks to everyone for the support!

Hello To All,

Week 28 has passed and I'm happy to say that I continue to make progress! Ives suggestion a few weeks ago to move up the dosage to 62.5 MG has been a real game changer. Thanks Ives! That change when coupled with strict adherence to the one hour "Golden Rule" has made all of the difference in the world. Although the side effects are a bit more pronounced as a result of the higher dosage, the effects of alcohol are almost completely blocked. I'm still feeling a little bit of effect, but it's virtually unnoticeable. Prior to upping the dosage, I still felt the effects of alcohol.

Yesterday I met a colleague at a pub to discuss some business opportunities. I was tempted to have a drink, but didn't. Even though I thought about it, I was only considering having a beer, which is not something I normally drink. My plan was to go to a liquor store and get something to have after the meeting. I ended up going to the liquor store, but the funny thing is that I only finished half of what I purchased. Normally I would guzzle what I had purchased, but this time I was completely ambivalent about it. What a great feeling! I am still having the thoughts, although they seem to be less frequent and certainly less obsessive. I hope this continues. Thanks to everyone for their support.

Week 29 has passed and the weekend is here. I just finished having 3 AF days in a row. I've only accomplished that one other time in the last several months. Although I thought about alcohol frequently, it didn't feel as overwhelming as it has in the past. I hope this is really happening and not just happy ears on my behalf. The wife is out tonight so I am having a few drinks before I go out to get something to eat.

Since I've increased the dosage, the effects of alcohol are truly negligible. I guess that is the effect that I want produced. I kind of feel like Maxwell Smart in that Get Smart episode where he went under cover and acted as if he was an alcoholic. He was trying to infiltrate Kaos (that's an original plot line!). To do so he took these pills that Chief gave him. They were called absorbo pills. As long as he took the pills while he drank and didn't swallow them he was fine. Of course Max ended up swallowing them:lol: Here's to absorbo pills! Have a great weekend everyone!

Your numbers look great! Congratulations!

I used to watch Get Smart - don't remember that particular episode, or any really, except one with quicksand.... :)

Really glad to see that it's working for you. Increasing the doseage and sticking to the one hour rule seems to be making a big difference. 3AF days in a row is impressive! My guess is that as time goes on and more and more extinction happens, you'll be able to do AF without really thinking about it....now that's something to look forward to! Keep up the good work.
