Great news ... Scotland has become the first country in Europe to prescribe a new drug which reduces cravings for alcohol.

Nalmefene has been given the go-ahead by the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC), which approves drugs for use on the NHS.

I heard that on the news. Awesome! Hopefully other countries closely follow!

Started TSM Aug 2012. Had some success but over time the Nal SEs were so awful that stopped taking Nal. Managed a 30 day (Sept 2012) and 46 day (Feb/Mar 2013) AF period which also contributed to getting drinking under control.

Hi
it has been approved here since May
But they still will not prescribe it to me
I have been off the board for a long time and also off TSM as keep begging to get it prescribed. They stopped my prescription for Naltrexone back in May.

Anyway, I ha d a really bad downfall in last month getting in trouble with everything - social services, work etc.
Was vey poorly last Fr and Sat and am sure it was due to too much of mister Alcohol. Also had blood tests and some of the liver ones are out of range.
So that is it; back on TSM as NHS will not do anything for me

Alice
