Hi fellow TSMers,

I started The Sinclair Method on the 3rd of September this year. My father and other family members were also addicted to alcohol. I'm still drinking each day (but it is early days yet) however I ALWAYS take my Naltrexone one hour before drinking. At the moment it works well with beer, slowing me down and not having as much, but has little effect on drinks like Gin and other stronger drinks.

God I hope this works!

Hi again my original post was short as I was on a brake at work. My father, who was addicted to alcohol gave me my first drink when I was about 10 or 11 yo, It was a glass of Port Wine that he told me was a tonic. I love the warm relaxed feeling it gave me. By the time I was in High School I was taking booze to school to have with lunch! Every friend I made seemed to also be a drinker and every few weeks we would have a "booze up".

My younger brother was killed on his motorbike whilst drunk, he was 26. One of my older brothers became seriously addicted to alcohol and was found dead in his unit, he was 40. My father continued to drink very heavily until he had liver problems and needed major surgery, he latter had a massive stroke and lived out his last days in a nursing home.

I did not drink alcohol for 4 years because of what I had seen it do to my family. My father in-Law would always want me to have a glass of wine with him and I would always say no. Then one day I said yes and after that first drink I got this amazing surge! Bit by bit I started to have a glass or two of wine with a meal, that soon became a bottle, than two bottles. After a while wine was not strong enough so I started having half a bottle of whisky a day, than that was not enough I got to the point of having a bottle of Gin every day (and sometimes more). If I could not get booze I would shake and feel ill.

I believe I am responding well to TSM but know it is early days. I turn 46 this month so that will give you and idea how long I've been drinking.

One funny thing, I have expensive taste in drink and only bought expensive stuff - so I lost even more money! I hope if TSM works for me I can connoisseur fine drinks without having to get drunk:)

Hi and welcome. It sounds like you've really been on the front line in terms of how alcohol addiction has affected your family.I'm so glad you've found this method and I really hope it works well for you.Let us all know how it's going.
Ruth.

Dave,

Keep us posted. I had my first sip around 12-13, first drunkenness at 14-15, drank through high school and college, and now 43. TSM is working for me. Not CURED yet, but feeling better. Reducing Numbers.
