Hi Dr. Eskapa,
I tried the Sinclair Method with the help of my great Dr in Scotland, Dr. McCloud who (although he had never heard of it) after reading my research and meeting my great enthusiasm with skepticism prescribed me Naltrexone . I followed the method to a T and took my pill religiously an hour before drinking every single day for over a year .
The 'switch' I so yearned for never happened although I was able to moderate my intake more easily during this time. It was incredibly frustrating as I never drank without taking NAL, drank every day, have alcoholism on both sides of my family, and have been an alcoholic since I was 22. I am now 38.
At the end of September 2010 I moved back to the United States with a three month supply of NAL. Because of the cost of Health Care here and the bias towards people taking NAL (generally for Opiate addiction) I was unable to continue the method once I ran out, and I had by that time quite frankly given up hope.
I saw the book that is now out on amazon by chance and I am wondering if it would be worth it for me to try again? I am so tired of fighting this battle, it has been really hard and controlled my life for so long. If you could please take the time to advise me I would be so grateful.
Kind regards,
Omniavincitamor
