I've been super crazy busy with work, so I haven't logged on in a bit. I went down to cutting the 50mg pill in quarters like you had suggested Cindy. After the first 3 days the sickness went away, and a few days after that the weird tired feeling left too. Over the weekend I bumped it up to half a pill and Monday started on the full 50mg. Still pounding the beer but some days I don't really want it and when im drinking I feel like I can put it down... like why bother. But with some crap that gone on in the last week with work I just slammed em down for the hell of it really! Sometimes the buzz is almost the same as without the nal but most of the time theres something different than without it. Oh I only take Nal when I eat something so maybe that helped with the sickness IDK. Thanks for all the replies from everyone, Its Great!

Dusty,
I'm so glad you are doing better on the Nal. Guess what? Me too! I took 25mg about 1 1/2 hours ago with no ill feeling....woo hoo! I too am going through an incredibly hard time in my personal life right now and the first thing I want to do is turn to the bottle, sometimes drinking through the Nal voice. Tough to break old habits. But we will get there ;)

Cindy

Dusty,

Glad to hear that the sickness has gone away and that you're tolerating the full dose. Sounds like changes are already happening...feeling like you can put a beer down, losing some of the buzz. Of course you're still drinking; it's early days and you need some booze in your system for extinction to take place. But slowly over the coming weeks and months there will be more and more changes and you'll begin to make different choices. In the meantime, keep up the good work.

Ruth.

I plan on starting to try and cut back and make better choices is the coming weeks/months Ruthie. I know the feeling Cindy, this time of year I think I run on adrenaline alone. My job is like a war that won't go away till mid to late October. Every day is like survival, and at the end of it I can be so pissed off and its natural for me to pound a box of beer get up and do it all over again like a machine. I have been trying to look for something positive each day to keep the resentment and anger down. I already try to calm my mind between calls by focusing on different podcasts I listen to instead of letting my mind race away. I did actually enjoy my one weekend off a month, not sure how long you lived in st pete or how well u know it but I took the kayak out to weeden island that was fun.

Super busy with work, but still at it. I think im not doing well but I wake up with 2 beers in the fridge and usually I would have drank all of them so that seems like some progress. Not much but 8 over 10-12 ill take it. I still need to start setting some goals and work toward it. Thanks everyone

Dusty,

TSM/Nal is somewhat magical - but we still need to make changes in our lifestyle, behaviors and address underlying issues in our lives - TSM can give us the break from destructive drinking for these things to be addressed. But we have to address them to push ourselves to the next level.

Change something, just one thing that disrupts a drinking pattern. Then, eventually, change one more - repeat till cured.

Rich

What Rich said. Nal is just one ingredient in getting control of this. A BIG one, but still just one. The other struggle comes from within.

Sounds like you're showing some improvement, so stay focused on that, be proud of it, and figure out what you can change in your life to make that improvement even better. Good luck!
