You can also get it as a Kindle book for the Mac, and I assume other platforms. You don't need a Kindle. That's how I've read about TSM and related "self-help" topics, as well as more entertaining reads.

You should read the book.

Good luck. I'm into my 9th week, and am still feeling optimistic, for the first time in many, many years.

Thank you all for your feedback and good sense of humor. Love that Rod Stewart song! ;)

Zodina - yes, I should be able to hide a book - lol! It's the ordering that's the problem. I think I'll open a separate amazon account and order it from there. I tried a bookstore and they didn't have it.

The Claudia Christian book was very entertaining, mostly about the Hollywood world.

Craving! That's what the problem is. When I went to AA the "phenomenom of craving" was mentioned. I so related to that. The thing is, why??? that craving? I have a feeling this book answers t hat.

I'll keep you all posted. I'm waiting for my deliveries. I also order the other Nal from allday and it was quite an undertaking!

Best to you all!

Cravings - I'm not sure what I was/am craving. After a few days on the Nal it seems like I was craving the rush and without the rush drinking seems like a fruitless task. But that is confusing me because I have not "replaced" the craving for the rush with anything.

OMG don't listen to me I have no idea what I'm talking about!!

The book will explain all about cravings....how they develop and the specific role played by endorphins. It's a really good read and probably useful to fully understand the science behind TSM and to know why we're doing what we're doing.

Ruth.

Welcome Maggie!

I am new as well and can so relate to the "hiding" we alcoholics are prone to. I don't have a sig. other right now, but I still hide it from my boys (13 & 15). I pour my wine in a coffee cup and hope they will actually think it is coffee  The truth is.....I'm not fooling anyone.

I was very sick from 25mg of Nal. Hopefully, you won't have that problem, but if you do try some ginger. I am doing much better on the 12.5 dosage but still have some side effects so I am picking up some ginger today.

I wish to ask Mer (or anyone else that knows) how to download kindle books for Mac. It was mentioned in an earlier post, but no specifics were given. I would rather do this than wait for the book to arrive. I know, I know, I have an issue with patience

I wish you the very best of luck on your Nal journey!

Cindy

Just buy the Kindle edition on amazon.com and then it gives you the option of what format you want it in. Amazon keeps a Kindle library under your account, so you just go to it to continue reading.

I read the medical link. thank you! I'm waiting for my RX to come in mail and will probably take it as soon as I get it, even if I've not read book yet. I'm a perfectionist and get how to take it and WILL take it the way I should. I will figure out how to read the book somehow! Hugs to you all!

I'm a bit slow, but figured out it is possible to order a book NOT from amazon!
I order it from another website and it's being delivered to my mom's.

Also, I have already received the Naltima from All Day (I had to talk to them on phone several times and am trying to control my impulses to dive right in before I'm fully informed!)

I think I read some people tried pill before drinking but I figure that if I take it an hour before I'll know already if it's problematic.

If you insist that I read the book first, it will be a couple of weeks before I start because I have a busy schedule coming up but I can live w/ that and, again, I'm trying not to be impulsive and in a hurry. :)

Thanks so much! I'm very touched by what I am reading on this website. I am so sorry to see people suffer so much and I'm starting to have an inkling of understanding about this disease that I didn't have before.
