Cindy,

I find it helpful to put the amount I drink each day down at the bottom of my posts (you can do this by editing your profile's signature). This encourages me to visit once a day to update the signature line and add a post about how my day went. Then while I'm here I read/comment on other people's posts. I'm using this site as, kind of, my daily diary.

Best Wishes,

Rich

Thank you all for your wonderful replies. I feel better today after just taking the 12.5mg yesterday, just a slight headache and much less nausea. I will keep this dosage up for a while and try some of the remedies recommended. I am into alternative medicine (if it works for me) so I will try the ginger first. If that doesn't work I will try the Motillum. I don't know if we have that in the states but I will ask the pharmacist if needed.

Thanks for the reminder about cravings, etc. I do need to remember that and not focus on it so much. I think the main thing I need to do is try to slow down and let the nal run its course. I am just so anxious to have alcohol and the wreckage it produces out of my life. I can soooo relate to the Jeckle/Hyde thing. I have lost so much due to my drinking.

There are a lot of us (alcohol addicted) folks who isolate themselves and become hermits. I don't want that life anymore. I want to be able to connect with other people and have real friends.

Once again, thank you all for being here and responding. You are my lifeline right now :D

Good luck to everyone on this TSM road!

Cindy

Hi Miss Cindy,

AF by 50 is a great goal and it sounds like you have the right attitude, motivation, and tools to make it happen. So really, you're already making your own good luck. Just keep it up, be rigorous about your Naltrexone protocol, be patient if your intake goes up and down, because it might, and be kind to yourself.

I am definitely one of those isolators, right now more so than any other time in my life. Part of that is circumstantial; I live in a small community where everyone knows everyone, and frankly I want neither to see anyone (other than a few close friends who know what I'm doing) or to be seen, until I'm feeling stronger, happier, prettier, thinner, more confident, more engaged, more active/positive/productive, etc., etc. -- all those things
I was before and fully intend to recapture. I know that as this program continues working (and my new anti-depressant kicks in), and I've seen real progress this week, I'll continue drinking less, feeling better, and getting more active. Becoming social again may well mean a move somewhere completely different, and a new job, a total life overhaul, and I'm preparing myself for that, and actually looking forward to new opportunities, rather than feeling hyper-anxious about it, as I just a couple of weeks ago.

I agree, this forum is a lifeline for me, too. It gives me a great deal of hope, encouragement, and valuable information.

Cheers, Happy Friday, and all the best to you, Miss Cindy.

Ok, I'm back again when I really should be sleeping, but I have a question for those of you that have been on this program for a while. The Nal made me very ill and I have cut down to about 1/8 a pill. This amount is working to block the alcohol high and is also not making me sick. Do I have to increase my dosage if this small amount is working for me? I know that everyone has a different physiology, so each person reacts differently to different drugs and dosages. Comments??

Cindy,

I'm on 1/2 a pill (25mg) which has put a serious dent in my wanting to drink. As long as I keep moving in the right direction I'm keeping at that dosage.

I'm pretty sure you can hold on whatever dosage works for your recovery goals.

Thanks Rich,

That was pretty much my take on the dosage as well. I will continue taking the tiny dose as long as it continues to do the trick. Last night I drank my usual bottle of wine.....but no buzz. I really am starting to think "what is the point in drinking?" I know it is very early on and I am starting to want to drink more to get that high. I hope I don't go that route, but know it is a normal part of the process. I am just so anxious to live AF.

Me again. Seems my life right now is sitting around reading this forum ;)

Just wanted to let you all know I had a new experience today. I have a huge, warehouse wine store right across the street from me and on the weekends they have wine tastings. Well, today, I went to get my nightly bottle of wine and, or course, there were tastings going on. Being the alki that I am, I of course had to join in, but low and behold, I found myself actually dumping out glasses that I really didn't like. That's a first. I've always watched other people do that and thought "what a waste!". Now I understand it. Wow, this is groundbreaking!

Wow is right!! I know people who will say no to wine they don't really care for, and I would, in the past, drink paint thinner if it had alcohol in it  So you sound like you are definitely a good candidate for this crazy merry-go-round called TSM.
