Hello everyone,

Well its update time. I've gradually worked my way up to a full dose of nal and I'm back to my old schedule of weekend drinking and weekday abstinence. It works pretty well for me I guess. This May will be two years that I've been on TSM. I can't say its been a total sucess story but I can say that its helped. I'm way better than I was, say 18 months ago. I'm still drinking a quite a bit more than I'd like but it has been reduced to some extent. Usually my current intake is one beer and 3 wines. Thats much better than one-two beers and an entire bottle+. I do notice that I don't seem to want any more after my current intake so I guess that's good. Also I notice thoughts before I drink of feeling kind of bored with the thought of spending the evening drinking. I'll keep keeping on and hopefully my intake will diminish even more.

So that's it for now. Nal on everyone. :D

Time to update. Hello everyone.... March was much the same as February. My intake has not changed at all. I still drink 1-2 beers and 2-3 wines each day on the weekend only. Still too much. Actually I'm wondering if I will ever be happy with just one glass of wine. It seems that in my mind I know I can drink more because of the nal curtailing the buzz and I seemed determined to get some kind of buzz so I drink more. But in reality I just get sleepy, take a short nap while watching TV, wake up sober and go to bed. This is still better than before. I'm not sure what to do next other than to keep going. As I mentioned last month, this May will mark 2 years on TSM.

Well, soon I'll be off to wine country for a week. This should be very interesting. Wish me luck.

Nal on everyone.....

NWO,

Good luck in wine country.

I was in Napa back in 1996. Probably on my list right now as a place for me to avoid. Vegas and Bourbon Street are on that list. I have enough temptations and events in my small mid-west town. I personally love the idea of 5 units on the weekends, a nap, and off to bed. I can understand your wanting less than 5, as everything is relative, but right now, for me, that would be god sent. It is stories like yours that make me look forward to taking the Nal and TSM.

Thanks for the update.

C.H.

Hello all,

And thanks for your response Christopher. Well its update time again. Wine country was fun and there was only one night where I over indulged. Believe it or not, visiting all the winery's got kind of old after a while. We ended looking into other activities like cornerstone gardens, a nine acre location in Napa with many gardens designed by landscape architects. Very cool. But anyway back to TSM. I notice a jump in my consumption. It started when I began drinking each day during vacation. It carried forward and increased after vacation. I finally broke free of this awful daily habit that was quickly forming. I was consuming 1-2 beers and 4-5 wines each night. I see no let up in my desire to drink. I'm trying to psyche myself up by asking myself, why can I have one soda and be satisfied, usually not even finishing it, and yet with wine, it just never seems to be enough. I'm wondering if I should up my dose to 75mg. And I'm also wondering where you all get your nal? I'd like to keep the prescription off the radar screen because I may be purchasing individual health insurance. Don't you know they ask you what prescriptions you are presently taking. Hmmmm that probably doesn't look to good and I don't like revealing that fact to anyone especially an insurance company. So if anyone has a reliable source to get nal without a prescription, I'd greatly appreciate the info. Has anyone ever gotten their nal from River Pharmacy?

Anyway for now I'm going to remain abstinent for a few weeks in order to gain a new perspective on booze. Funny I keep having to make these corrections. Next month will be two years I'm on nal. Perhaps nal will never work for me. I'm just not sure. I'll just have to wait and see.

Nal on everyone.

Best,

Nalwayout, I've found www.alldaychemist.com to be very reliable and economical. The Naltrexone they sell DEFINITELY works -- it's the "good sh*t." Anyway, I just got 50 for $99. There's not even a question about whether you have a Rx or not. This is my second time buying from them. It's kind of weird because you have to go through (what seems like a shady) third party payment company. Fast, and no problems. Total time from order to receive is about 2 weeks or so. That $99 will probably save me over $1000 in booze purchases, so it's a good investment for me.

Thanks for the continual update. I think if I were you and can tolerate an increased dose, I would give it a try. In my readings of late, a number of clinical trials recommend 100 mgs. Let us know how it goes. Keek

Update time. Help! I'm pretty upset. My wonderful son brought up my drinking to his father last night in a private conversation between them.
The car had broken down and my son mentioned out of the blue "I'm worried about Mom". She's been drinking more these past few months. He said he mentioned it to His sister also. My daughter, oh man it's such a long story, but she probably ate this whole thing up, since she lost her license, due to a second DUI, lost her job and her apartment and had to move to a city with local transport in order to be able to work and support herself. Her car was repossessed etc etc. So I'm wondering if she fed him a line in order to feel validated in some way. Anyway, this is so hurtful to me since I've been on TSM for so long and trying to gain control. I'll have to have a talk with him tomorrow to see if I can gain some more perspective on why he feels this way. Is it his own perspective or is it his sisters influence? I'm not sure... Any candid input is welcome from the group.

Best to all,

If you're only drinking 1 beer, 2-3 wines (glasses, I assume) on weekends only, what's the problem that they're pointing out? You're already at "safe levels." Are you saying you're not drinking a lot but your daughter is spreading mistruths about you? That sounds sort of Dr. Phil-esque.

I think your numbers would be fine for me. I'm looking forward to getting to your numbers.

I have never had a family member do this about alcohol, however, I have experienced alcoholic buddies quick to bring up some of my less than desirable drunken moments to detract away from some of theirs.

Well, when I spoke to my son it turns out he has been worried about me because of what he sees at work. About a year ago, he got a job as a bar prep at a high end restaurant. So he sees what goes on at the bars. People coming every night at five and staying until last call. He also saw what happened to his sister in the last year and a half, ie car repossesion, miscarraige, loss of job, loss of apartment, and two DUI's. Over this past year he's slowly become aware by witnessing all of this from his job and his sister. He does'nt drink and because of what he's seen he says it really turns him off. So, it looks like he was envisioning all of this happening to me and he was unecessarily worrying. We had a good talk. I told him, yes I do like my wine, but when I drink I do so with Dad at home. I never drive, I'm not out drinking and crashing up my car. And I said to him that I never want him to worry about me, I am fine and I am safe. And its very important to me that he thinks I'm a good mother. He said of course your a great mother and it all ended up quite well. So that's that. I was pretty freaked out about the whole thing and could not sleep. Our conversation took place at mid night when he arrived home from work. I am very glad we talked and it seems we've now grown a little bit closer than before.

I'm still not where I want to be with alcohol. This week the old nightly drinking started up again. I have to learn to stick with the weekends only. I just dont feel good when I drink every night. I know its bad for my health. So my goal for June is to stick to the weekends and go back to my safe levels once again. Monday May 27, 2013 will be my two year anniversary on TSM.
