Hello! I have been taking Naltrexone an hour before I drink for right at 4 months now. When I first started, I had the initial reaction that a lot of people seem to have....it helped immediately and was amazing, but did not last. It has definitely helped me to cut my drinking by at least 30% or more, but I am still drinking almost everyday and drinking more that I would like to. I was drinking on a average 12 beers per day. Now I am down to 7 or 8 a day. That is better, but still not where I need to be. I also used to occasionally go on a hard liquor binge, and I am not doing that anymore. Like I said, it is definitely better, but I feel like I am stuck here. Is this normal this far in, and what should I expect? Thank you so much for your time!

Yes people take a varying amount of time to reach cure point, the fact you have experienced a drop already is a good sign. It can take up to a year, or 18 months to be completely successful. Some people find drinking more slowly, or having a few enforced AF days really helps speed the process along - makes them realise control is there.

Thank you so much for your reply! It is really encouraging to me! I will try to have more AF days, and hopefully that will speed the process up. Thanks again! 8-)

Agree with UK.

Get that AF day under your belt. It took me 6 weeks to just get 1 day. Also, tell us when you succeed (AF day or only 1 or 2 or 3 that session) and fail (drank like the pre-TSM days). Thats what we are all here for. To let each other know it isn't all win win win win. There will be a lot of little victories, little failures, and even a few oops, that was a big slip up.

If you read through the cured list section, several people state 2 years even.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words! I feel relieved to know that it has taken awhile for others also. 8-)
