After a few false starts, I began religiously taking 50mg of Nal one hour before drinking. I began this in L November. Unlike me past efforts where I experienced an immediate reduction in drinking levels, this time my drinking has remained constant at 6 to 8 units 5 or 6 times per week. I do take Xanax at night when I awaken and cannot sleep, but never during the day or when consuming alcohol. Do I just need to give this more time? Your thoughts please, and thanks very much.

It varies, some people reach cure point in 3-6 months, others require a full year or more. I'd be tempted to say if you've relapsed then it could take longer the second time.

Is Xanax a benzo?If so Dr Eskapa has said benzos reduce success.
