Cfrost. Like you, being able to keep alcohol in my house was a huge change for me. That's a great, great sign. Like you, I absolutely could not resist any alcohol that was in the house -- even to the point I would drink mixers (like Mudslide mixers) if it had even small amounts of alcohol in it -- or cooking wine (yuk). I had all manner of empty liquor 1/2 pints or minis hidden here or there, and would do a mental inventory every morning and try to retrace my steps to locate them so I could throw them away and hide the evidence. Once, my teenage daughter was borrowing my cowboy boots for a costume and found four empty minis and pulled them out of the boot in front of the whole family. I remember her saying, "I didn't know you were an alcoholic." That was embarassing.

We had a Christmas party in December and I had about 14 beers left over, which I kept warm in my closet. In one of my final binge drinking sessions, I pathetically couldn't help myself and drank all 14 of them warm. I woke up the next day feeling like complete crap and was feeling really sorry for myself. Then, on New Year's Eve, I drank about a pint of vodka early on. That was the last time I have been anywhere near drunk, because I started TSM 4 days later!

I have had the same beers in my mini-bar since early February, and there has been an opened bottle of wine in there for this whole time (my wife sometimes has a little before bed to calm her constant worries). When my wife would go into the bathroom to get ready for bed, I would hop up from bed, run to the mini bar, quietly open it, and then chug some wine just to "top off" the night's drinking. When the bottle ran out, I would buy more the next day and use a funnel to refill the bottle. Now, not only have I resisted sneaking any sips or drinks, I don't even think about what's in the bar. It literally does not cross my mind. Amazing.

You're doing great, Frosty! Nal is really working for you! For me, too, the taste of my favorite wines really changed, from delicious to YUCK. The other day the first couple of sips were yummy but then the next sip not so much and before I knew it I hadn't finished the first glass over the whole course of dinner. Unbelieveable! That would never have happened to me before nal and TSM. I would have chugged as many as glasses as quickly as possible. And then more, and then sneak some more, then ... well you probably know! :& I'm SO glad we found TSM!!

Hello from a fellow Northern Cal lady. I've been reading your posts and am feeling very hopeful that this program can work. I'm sorry about the hike. This is one of the reasons I have shied away from AA. I'm hard enough on myself and don't need someone else knocking me down. From my perspective, you are doing an awesome job. Keep up the good work! Keek

p.s. I'd be happy to meet for a hike in the near future, as I live in the Sac area. (I used to be afraid of using the nickname my brother gave me and to divulge where I live, but figured that anyone lurking on this forum is probably in the same boat as I)
