Hello Nipit!

Congrats on your return to The golden rule. It's true that its tempting not to take Nal, but your smart to take it in spite of the side effects. Personally I've had no problem as long as I take it with food. Without food=misery. But we are all different. I'm not sure what you mean about nalovers? You feel bad the next day too?

Anyway. Welcome back! :))

Nal on,

Thank you, Nalwayout. You're my goal-model: weekend drinker, max 2 drinks per session. I'm hopeful that with nal + golden rule I will get there!

Sorry about not explaining nalover - bad hangover day after taking nal, even when quantity drunk is much less than 'the old days.' I picked up the term from this site and I experience it often, although not consistently. So I'm going to track not only my drinks but all my side effects and whether/what I ate, etc. to see if I can figure out better how to avoid (side effects) and nalovers.

Hope you're doing well, Nalwayout!

I notice the Nalovers also. I went from feeling crappy only 1 or 2 times of month while boozing daily, to 1 or 2 times a week. And the 1 or 2 times a week will be half of the "old days" amounts. The weekend numbers I have had, similar to the "old days" have really made me feel crappy. Late teens to early 20's vintage hangovers.

So I must agree that the Nal and combination of drinking less, really changes how you feel the next day. I actually embrace this. I have known that I am a freak for years compared to my wife and many acquaintances. Freak as in, functioning damn well the next day compared to the rest of the crew I was with the day/evening before. My Nalovers may be a sign of normal human things to come for me.

Yes I do believe the nalovers (after much fewer drinks than the old days!) are another motivator for cutting back. Funny how hangovers didn't really do the same thing! By 5PM I was ready to go again! Not so much after a nalover.

Good news: I seem back on the successful TSM wagon. This past weekend I was out of town with friends where mega opportunities for mega drinking were all around. I was nervous, but took my nal with a meal (and usually an advil and tums as well) and did not have too much nausea or headache. I was, however, VERY sleepy the first hour after taking nal - like barely able to keep my eyes open! But that seemed to wear off, I perked up and started drinking - Slowly (unusual for me). I found a new drink: Bud Light Lime. How's that for low alcohol! And I couldn't drink more than two. And then I didn't desire anything more. Thanks to nal!

Next week bigger test as I head to California wine country and family which drinks a lot and drives me to drink. I'm adamant about following the golden rule. Hopefully this past weekend's success will continue next week.

Nal on!

Hey Nipit... How are you doing? I'm curious as to when the Nal became more tolerable for you. I'm considering upping my dose tonight, but not drinking so that my body doesn't rebel when I do drink after the Nal. Also, where are you on the units? Hope all is well, keek

Hi keek, thanks for checking in. I've been reading and posting on others' threads but forgot to update my own!

My week in California was very successful TSM-wise. My family there drinks every night ("oh look, it's 5 o'clock would anyone like a glass of wine?" they say, as if the time and the idea have come as a surprise! :D ) So faithfully I took my nal at 4 everyday and had a glass of wine at 5 - except the couple of days I lost track of time and forgot to take it at 4, but took it as soon as I remembered and still waited an hour before my first drink. That is big for me because in the past if someone else started drinking and my nal pre-hour hadn't yet fully passed I would have said aw what the heck I'll start drinking now anyway - that's breaking TSM's golden rule, the one and only rule I must follow! So I was thrilled I was able to wait. Most nights I drank only 2 or 3 and didn't want more. TSM is working for me because before nal, once I started I could not stop. But now the first glass tastes great, then the second is usually 'bleah' or 'Why bother?' Again, thanks to TSM.

Side effects were negligible to not too bad at all! I'm not sure why. Maybe because I was taking nal every day, always with food, water, an Advil and a tums.

Since I got home, I went AF three days, then did nal + 2 drinks the last two nights. No Advil, no tums, no SEs! I'm still astonished I can stop after 2. Thanks to nal and TSM!
