Dave,
Good -- having close relatives with "the gene" is a good sign TSM will work for you. Also, if they were able to manufacture a non-alcoholic beer that tasted 100% exactly like your favorite beer, I highly doubt you would drink 18 of them! So, the ultimate driver is not really the taste it's the alcohol juicing up your brain. If this "juicing up" is highly related to endorphin release (as it is for me), you will not be able to drink 18 beers after taking Naltrexone. That is a "sh*t ton" of beer, as they say in the South.

Also, I understand you "love to be drunk," but you're just going to have to make a choice here. Like I've said in a previous post, I would love to hang out at strip clubs all day. Strippers are awesome people and being with them is way better than drinking. However, I choose not to do this very pleasureable activity because, ultimately, it is bad for me (since I'm married). Alcoholism is even worse than strip clubs because it is so very bad for you when drinking at high levels. Quick story: There was this 50 year old man in ICU dying of liver failure -- big, yellow, bloated, diarrhea-leaking shell of a man. His family is there crying. I talked to his wife, and she said he has known for a long time he needed to quit drinking but had said, "I'd rather die young and drunk then ever quit drinking." But, whether or not the path you're on leads to major health problems or not, you obviously know that quitting your drinking habits will ultimately make your life (and, of course, your wife and family's) life much better.

It can be a sad parting -- like losing an old friend -- when you give up drunkenness. You'll get over it.

Dave,

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the Nal will work for you. How much, who knows? But based on your posts and your positive attitude to try this, It should have some sort of definite effect. Mine is enough that I can "feel" it working even in week 8-9. Especially when it typically would have been one of my "solo days" where I would drink on the way home from work, and than have more after dinner. The Nal really helps shrink the numbers on these days.

So your units appear to be in my neighborhood. I think you said your in Japan. What math are your units based on? Just wondering.

Let us now when the Nal arrives and how the first few days go.

Chris

That is if it ever makes it here.

I am using US standard, if I used the Japanese standard I would be in the 70 drink vicinity.

I read your threads, sounds like a tuff ordeal for sure, I hope you get things better with the Nal.

Finally it got here today.

I can tell you I am a little nervous. On one hand I want to be able to drink like a normal person, but on the other I am worried that I won't continue with TSM b/c I won't like how I feel on nal. I have always been a worry wart and worry about the tiniest things, sigh...

Don't sweat it Dave,

Everyone is different, I really felt goof, the first day, a little weird the 2nd day, then nothing after that. Several people have had side effects that lasted longer, but I would try the 50mg right out of the gate.

I love the feeling from Nal I get when I am ready to stop a third short of where I used to go.

OK, its the next day after taking 50mg.

First ,my drinking rate slowed a bit I feel, but it seemed as though I was more drunk than usual. I ended up having 10 units which is what I would normally have had. I don't get hangovers normally, but it feels like the drink is still in my system the next morning.

I can agree with that. My first 2 days, a Sat. and a Sun., I drank around 18, my normal amount. It was days 10-16 where I had my honeymoon.

I have been up a few hours now and it still feels like I have a head cold. Is this the spacey feeling people are getting? I am not one to be affected by side effects, and it is very mild so I am not bothered by it yet.

Why can't this whole ride be a big honeymoon! LOL
