Hi all,
I am new to the site and have been reading for about a week. I am so pumped to get a new start with Nal. You all make me hopeful. I am 64 years old and have been drinking daily for at least 40 years. I can't imagine stopping altogether but would be OK if I could. Drinking has been such a daily part of my life for sooooooo long. I usuall drink at least 5 beers a day during week and more if I am outside drinking with hubby. He can stop, I can't. I have a Dr. appointment this month in 8 days but don't know quite what to say to him to get a prescrption. I could get it online but more expensive. Does anyone have suggestions of what to say to Dr. to get some Nal?

You all give me much hope for the future. You are all very brave and I will appreciate your help.

Well, i suppose each Dr is different... I live in the UK wher Naltrexone is not even used by the NHS in TSM. But managed to talk a psychiatrist in the substance abuse centre here to let me try it and to prescribe Nal.

I basically told hiw what i know abt TSM; how it works etc. I found all the info in the 'What is the Sinclair Method' area of the forum. Also I had a copy of chapter 17 'For Medical Professionals' of the 'Cure for Alcoholism' (also available in the 'What is the Sinclair Method' area ) and went over the 'Eligibility for Treatment 'bit and explained why i meet them.

Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply. I'll start with the info from the forum regarding TSM. See if that works for him to give me a perscription. I could try the addiction clinic route also. Hope it doesn't all take too long.
