Geez, Alice, just take the pill in the morning before you start drinking. I don't get that. :?

Hi Berry,

Do you mean take it in the morning and then not take another in the evening? Will that work?

Alice, anytime you drink without first taking the Naltrexone, you're basically sabotaging your odds of ever getting better with TSM. Your endorphin reward system doesn't care whether it's day or night time. In your case, morning drinking is your most stubborn and troublesome habit, so OF COURSE you should take Naltrexone one hour before you start hitting the wine in the morning. If you insist on drinking again in the evening, you should take another pill in the evening. If you don't have enough pills to consistently do this, I would suggest you just stop TSM until you can stockpile more pills. You're just going to become more frustrated and down on yourself. If money's a concern, surely these pills are cheaper than wine. Not to be overly critical, but you seem to be exhibiting self-defeating behaviors, which is something a lot of addicts struggle with in one way or another. I found this list on wikipedia interesting. It's worth a glance for all of us. I'm guilty of #6 and #8.

Self-Defeating Disorder

A) A pervasive pattern of self-defeating behavior, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. The person may often avoid or undermine pleasurable experiences, be drawn to situations or relationships in which he or she will suffer, and prevent others from helping him, as indicated by at least five of the following:

1.chooses people and situations that lead to disappointment, failure, or mistreatment even when better options are clearly available

2.rejects or renders ineffective the attempts of others to help him or her

3.following positive personal events (e.g., new achievement), responds with depression, guilt, or a behavior that produces pain (e.g., an accident)

4.incites angry or rejecting responses from others and then feels hurt, defeated, or humiliated (e.g., makes fun of spouse in public, provoking an angry retort, then feels devastated)

5.rejects opportunities for pleasure, or is reluctant to acknowledge enjoying himself or herself (despite having adequate social skills and the capacity for pleasure)

6.fails to accomplish tasks crucial to his or her personal objectives despite demonstrated ability to do so, e.g., helps fellow students write papers, but is unable to write his or her own

7.is uninterested in or rejects people who consistently treat him or her well, e.g., is unattracted to caring sexual partners

8.engages in excessive self-sacrifice that is unsolicited by the intended recipients of the sacrifice

I probably should have heeded barry's advice Friday and Saturday and took a second one late in my binge session. However, I will always take the first 1 before I start no matter what time of day. I would think the first one is more important than the 2nd one.

Drinking during the day kills me. I could never have a few drinks and then sit about and sober up. I need to hit the sack as soon as I finish. I've been drinking the last week during the day and its been a nightmare. My units have went up slightly but I still find it hard to get over 10 units. So this means going to bed around 6pm and waking about 11pm feeling like **** and not being able to sleep.

I've been catching a buzz lately which has worried me a bit but I put this down to slipping up with taking my Nal over the xmas period and I think I might have back slip a bit. I've came to far to be messing around now. I've just order an other few boxes and won't be leaving it too late next time.

I'd advice anyone starting off to always make sure your well covered with Nal as not following it to the letter might not get you the results 6 months down the line you should have had.

Its to slow a process for most to have slowed even further by skipping days here and there.

Hi all,

well the day time drinking for me is just when i can actually afford to do it: e.g. weekends and if not driving. Also i can have a glass of wine and then stop.

I just ordered 14 extra pills from goldfarma (thanks Lorraine, was really no problem ordering and hope theu get here soon).

But I think the best is to stop the day-time drinking. Maybe only on a special occasion and take Nal before. I should be able to do this! It's just me being week and caving in

: Great Alice!! Good to feel some positivity in your post .. See... we're all behind you ... you CAN do it!!

Heed the advice of these guys here ... they know what they're talking about .. so that's great you've got the extra Nal ordered .. then like Barry says... just make sure if there's any doubt .. or its a weekend .. you take that pill in the morning

I'm waiting on my next goldpharma order ... hopefully should be here by beginning of next week .. but I've still plenty left to tide me over.

Now you can feel you;re making a new start - and doing this TSM properly - Never drink without the pill an hour before ... (I can't see the point otherwise - its only that one rule we need to follow ... to the letter! .. and you don't want to be wasting your money!)

you CAN wait an hour .. and if not - Nal for breakfast Alice! Let us know how you do next few days?

Lorraine

I'm glad that morning drinking is one thing I never felt up for. I can only imagine how tired I would be around 4:00pm if I drank in the morning. I'd either have to go to bed, lie around and do nothing, or drink more to "pick me up." I did say for years, "I never drink before 5:00," then I got real drunk starting at 1:00 one day while I was at the beach. From that point on, I started drinking as early as 2:30, even sometimes before picking my kids up from school. I think besides having all the extra time to drink more and more units, the other problem with morning drinking is that we tend to drink throughout the day to avoid feeling like completely dog doodoo. It's sort of a "hair of the dog" all day long and adds up. By the time evening comes around, we probably feel down in the dumps for drinking all day, so we drown our sorrows by drinking!!

I have vacationed for several years in Florida with some Boozer family members. There is a lot of daytime and some late morning drinking. Almost always beer. However, I have learned a trick in the Florida sun to allow me to be up well past sunset. I mix light beer 50/50 with diet white soda on ice and drink with them during the day.

Unfortunately, after most of them past out at sunset, I would hit the harder stuff. However, the beer/soda on ice is better than one might think.

Well, I haven't posted for a few days now...

I saw the psychiatrist last Wed and he was happy with me to carry on with TSM.

He also said if i take the Naltrexone at the same time every day it should stay in my system and one pill a day is all i need. But then the 'Cure for Alcoholism' says an hour before a drink..So not sure which theory to really believe right now.

Also had a blood test for liver function; Naltrexone is broken down by the liver apparently, so they want to monitor. Hope it's OK.

Otherwise things not too bad but not great either. And my day-time drinking needs to stop, but couldn't do it last weekend  Well, i just have to keep on trying.
