Looking for a doctor/specialist in the Kaiser Permanente/Sacramento CA. system. My GP wanted to refer me to the alcohol dependency program and knew nothing about TSM. I'm sure there is a way to navigate the system with the right doctor(s). Thanks.

I just finished a Dual Dependacy program with Kaiser on Watt Ave. The psychiatrist in the program knew nothing about the Sinclair Method but prescriped it to me saying it wouldn't hurt. On the bottle it says take once a day but I do it by the method (day 24 today). I have been looking into the Method for over two years with no success in getting it prescribed (but that was not under Kaiser). All I have is the book and the pills - no outside help of any kind. I just joined a blog a couple of days ago and just joined this one today. I just posted a blog a few minutes ago - read it and respond back if you like. Didn't think I would find any North Cali's this soon - and a Kaiser member to boot.

Desperado (or even better Success-perado?), thank you for your reply. How synchronistic that we joined on the same day and live in the same area -- there are no accidents!

Would you mind sharing the name of the psychiatrist who prescribed your Nal.? Maybe I can email him/her and get an appointment; or ask my GP to refer me... Now that KP is dialed into social media it is possible to email questions, etc. to the practitioners. I've been going to the Roseville KP so maybe I can get a referal from your doctor to someone there who would be helpful. My motto these days is "Never stop, keep moving forward!"

Thank you again! I will post an intro later when I have some more time -- still feeling this whole thing out myself. : )

Peace to you.

You have to be inrolled in one of the programs in Watt AVE to see him. He is only tied into those programs. Is there a way to send me a private message so you could give me your number or to message privately on FaceBook. Not only am I new to this site but I am new to blogging.

I am currently seeing a psychiatrist in Sacramento who has prescribed Nal for me, however he is also suggesting I try sobriety for a couple of months. He says I am going to do what I am going to do, but is here to support me. I will check with him to see if he minds me giving his name out. He is not part of the Kaiser system and my insurance doesn't cover behavioral health so I pay out of pocket. I figure it is much cheaper than rehab. I ll post once I get an ok.

Desperado, no I still haven't had Nal. prescribed. Been shopping for a different doctor at a different Kaiser. Resistance to the process (Grrrr!) I'm keeping in mind what you said about asking for Nal. and not bringing up the whole SM thing -- good suggestion.

Kekede, thanks for your suggestion too. That will be my last resort, to find a private practice physician and just pay out of pocket like you're doing. My husband and I discussed it -- you're right, much cheaper than rehab! Any referals are appreciated and you can send them via private message to avoid naming names on a public site.

Thanks again for everyone's help.
