"Why is this happening?" Ultimately, of course, it's because you yourself are drinking large amounts of alcohol (it's not like your white blood cell count is rising -- you do have power). I can see how you're afraid because, like so many, this is a last-ditch effort and, if even this doesn't work, what hope is there!??!
You really need to find ways for "non-drinker mom" to sabotage "drinker mom." When you're sober and before you've turned from Dr. Jeckyl to Mrs. Hyde, think of ways you can make sure that tonight's drinking won't end up being way high. For example, don't keep booze stocked in your house. Make frequent trips to the liquor store when sober and buy what you choose to drink before your free will is consumed by alcohol. Don't chug alcohol and overwhelm your system. And, if possible, tell a loved one your plans for that evening so that you have more incentive to stick to them: "I'm only going to have a half a bottle of wine tonight, so don't let me drink more, o.k.?" If you have plenty of Naltrexone, try taking 50mg as normal, and then 25mg after the first two drinks (that seems to calm the mad rush for more alcohol for some).
If you have the strength to do multiple AF days (which many on here don't!), you have the strength to find ways to make sure your drinking nights are not a disaster. You can do it...
