I should have asked this question in an earlier post. But I was just wondering if there is any evidence that a big meal might dilute the effect of Naltrexone. For example if you are planning a nice dinner with wine and or drinks would you still take the Naltrexone in the usual manner, one hour before the planned meal/drinks. I know that some medications effects are diluted by a fatty meal. Thank you.

I've read many threads on this board and have never seen anyone claim that a big meal changed the effect of Naltrexone.

Thanks for the positive reply. I guess if you think about it the tablet blocks the receptors pretty fast after taking it so the food should not unblock them. But as I said, better to ask the question and be sure.

Many people on here say eating before drinking with the nal really helped them reduce their intake.

Sailorbox, it's my understanding that the Nal has more affinity for the opioid receptors than endogenous morphine (endorphins) released in response to anything, including eating food. The food itself is not of the correct chemical composition to block the receptors.

Thank you both for the information, it is good to know that people on this forum are so helpful. I felt that there might be less opportunity for side effects from the Nal if taken with food. After asking the quesion I read some postings and see that others eat now before taking Nal and it helps them with the drinking and with the side effects.
