Chrissie - great to see your success after 52 weeks. I gave up around that point and am starting over - I will have more faith this time!

Chrissie, regarding your comment to Larry, comparing yourself to him as "one daily drinker to another". Before you started Nal, you were at 35 to 40 units a week, which is about 2 or 3 drinks a day!? Larry is drinking around 40 units every 2 to 3 days! You think that you were addicted to alcohol before you started Nal? No, you were not physiologically addicted to to alcohol -- not in the slightest. You simply enjoyed a little buzz every night. Larry's situation is NOTHING compared to ANYTHING that you have experienced in life.

Suggesting that Larry put in an AF day is like suggesting to a Heroin addict to go 6 hours without a fix. No disrespect intended here! Just, Larry can't hear the words you speak, because you have no idea what language he speaks!

Nevertheless, your care and concern for Larry and for everyone, including myself, here is commendable Thank you!

Take care.

Wow...I'm completely stunned.

Quote:
im jelous, just kiden im very happy for you. chrisse how did YOU break the HABIT, ROUTINE part of drinking?

In this post Larry asked - once again - how I broke my habit, so I supplied that information to him, of what worked for me. I was only relaying my own experience to him. I do not consider myself an expert in TSM, and in fact, see NO "experts" on this forum - it is an inexact science and we're all feeling our way along, trying to figure out what seems to work. Some of us here are more opinionated than others and convey (in my observation), a strong desire to sway others to THEIR way of thinking. And - even more amazing - seem to be able to extrapolate what someone else's experience is like (whether they are truly "physiologically addicted"...reminiscent of the recently popular discussion elsewhere re: "true rape") :(

Further, of course my experience is based on my "mere' 30 - 40 units a week, and I had NO IDEA that this was insufficient street cred to offer advice to Larry - who I will point out once again - asked me directly for it.

This forum lately reminds me too much of "real life", i.e. the current political climate...& I will take a break, as there seem to be plenty of chefs in the kitchen.

Dabs clearly crossed the line with his post. He wrote something similar on my thread a while ago but had the wisdom to delete it shortly thereafter. Looking at the timing of the post, perhaps it's not off base to infer Dabs was "under the influence" when scribing? 35-40 units a week is actually 5-6 drinks a day, unless you're drinking doubles and then you can sugar coat it as 2-3 "drinks".

This forum should be a safe haven for those struggling with alcohol and attempting to try tsm. It shouldn't be an arena to compete for the title of "Biggest Drunk". Some of us would be literally dead if we drank as much as Larry, Dabs and others who post here. Everyone who posts here has a problem with alcohol and no one has the right or the knowledge to "judge" whether others "really" have a problem or not. Those of us who started off consuming 5-6 drinks a day may get to the finish line a little faster than those drinking 10-12 drinks a day but we shouldn't be criticized for seeking help when we did. Wherever we are on our mission to control, extinguish or eliminate our drinking, we ought to provide support to each other. For many of us, this forum is the only place we can be open about what we are going thru.

I for one will be sorry if you Chrissie step away from the forum. I found common ground w/ our experiences and your support has really helped motivate me and I'm sure many others here. No one should feel like they've been "voted off the island" .

Started TSM Aug 2012. Had some success but over time the Nal SEs were so awful that stopped taking Nal. Managed a 30 day (Sept 2012) and 46 day (Feb/Mar 2013) AF period which also contributed to getting drinking under control.

I think Chrissie was just giving some honest advice. I'm not sure if Larry is physically addicted which would make it actually dangerous to go a day AF, but if he is, Chrissie wasn't to know. There's little enough traffic on here as it is. I'd hate to see members leaving.

One of the reasons I stopped posting was because I don't really like getting involver in forums for various reasons but no 2 of us are the same and our journeys will be different. Hopefully it might make it easier for those to follow.

I forgot to add. There's no alcohol consumption definition for being an "alcoholic". It can be very patronizing hearing this.

Okay, sorry... I probably over-reacted. We get along amazingly well here, considering the stressful, painful & emotional topic that brings us all together: the good of the Forum far out weighs the bad.

Still...

It will take a while for that arrogantly dismissive statement to be dislodged from my craw. GTG's math is pretty accurate, and believe me, I did not for an instant imagine the suffering and unhappiness those "5 - 6/nightly" caused me!!! :(

Sorry if I offended you, Chrissie...Yes, I had had a few when I wrote that and got on my high-horse! I've always been horrendous in Math. I clearly miscalculated how much you were drinking.

I've always been one to stand up for the underdogs, and your advice to Larry seemed particularly unrealistic to me last night....When I got up this morning I debated about deleting the post, like I did with the one to Gott a while back....but thought, well, no, let's see if we can get things put into proper perspective with our friend Larry. The feedback thus far seems constructive -- at your expense, I'm sorry. At least I felt free enough to say it, thanks to the climate here. I think Larry doesn't feel that free yet, in all respects.

Please accept my apology and continue to hang around. You -- and Gott (and so many others)-- are wonderful contributors and supporters here, which I have benefited by and truly appreciate.

Take care and KOKO! :)

Glad that you apologized Dab - your first post was wildly inappropriate. I've said many wildly inappropriate things while drinking, so I understand.

I hope that this doesn't hurt our little community. And I really hope it doesn't drive Chrissie off. She is a fantastic poster.

By the way, this is a great article about the differences in the way that women and men process alcohol - http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/Health ... 61926.html. A woman drinking 35-40 units is on par with a man drinking a much, much higher amount.
