Hi all,

I havent posted in ages but I have deen reading deligently. I just had some time today to put in my uptodate numbers.. I thought they were worst than they are but its only when I see then written down that I can see that they have improved.

Just to bring things up to date -

Im using Nodict from River but Im nearly out. I have chewed tablets from day 1 because of the comments Ive read here. At times I was wondering was this method working for me but I can see my numbers reduce so Im happy about that. Have has 2 alcohol free days and am feeling good. I have ordered Naltima this time to see if it speeds things up. Im in Ireland so I have to go through River as I have no prescription.
I know I should probably be seeing better results at this stage but there is no way Im throwing in the towel as thankfully I have read that it could take up to 16 months even 2 years. Sure what else would I be doing - Im going to be having a few drinks anyway so I am committed to taking my Nal 1 hour before and off I go. Life is certainly more controlled. Most nights I have the wine glass washed and back in the press before going to bed and mostly I remember doing so!!!!! For those of you being the subject of the dreaded blackouts - you will know how BIG that is.
Hope everyone is doing good - from what I read there are a lot of us around my stage and plodding on!

Love to read all the comments - look forward to logging on every other day and contributing more.
KOKO

Hi Falling, I too have a tendency to just read and not post. I would like to make a commitment to working this program a little better by posting more often. You with me?

Hi Falling,
Keep posting...it helps all of us who use this forum. Glad you are seeing some progress. Try to get some more AF days in (I know they are really hard); the more you do, the better you'll feel.

Hi all,

Im really not where I want to be with my numbers the past 3 weeks. Im in month 10 and the numbers are still way too high.
Im just waiting on my new delivery of naltima - almost finished all the nodict. Really hope the new change in tablets will make a difference. I hope Im not pulling at straws! But time will tell - Im sticking to it religiously. Chew a tablet 1 hour before drinking each and every time. I think for most people on high numbers they get discouraged around now expecting to see a better outcome but like all of you here I will plod on. An A/F night tonight anyway to start with.

Good luck to all, some really positive posts re reduction in numbers etc
Well done to all of you,
Keep up the good work

Try not to get discouraged. I think the "daily habit" drinkers have the hardest time. Keep trying each day to at least reduce your numbers and one day it may suddenly hit that you don't really feel like drinking anymore. I've found that reading "harm reduction" books have also helped me.....and figuring out "why" I turned to alcohol.

You have a lot of supporters here. Take care.

Hang in there FTP! Seems that a year or more is pretty much the "norm" here....which means you're pretty norm-al! KOKO! :P

To update - Things are depressingly much the same.
I received my new perscription - Naltima 5 days ago but I dont notice too much of a change.
Im going A/F tonight - Ive been doing about 1 per week, last week it was 2 (not together)
I was able to manage them ok. I really think its the habit thing thats kicking in with me more than craving.
Thats the next thing to work on.
Unfortunately - still hiding drinks!! thats not good.
Im looking for a positive week this week, I have things on a few nights but that doesnt always mean I wont want to drink.
I have to be a bit firm with myself.

Good to hear things are going well for all of you.
Dabs its great to hear your success story so early in your journey, I wish you well, and the same to all of you people on the same journey!!!!

Thankfully my numbers are going down but part of that is because I was sick. I had a bad dose and didnt drink
for 3 days after I recovered. I have noticed a definite lack of interest in alcohol so I'm really trying to listen to my brain when it says
"you really do not want wine this evening".

I feel I have built up a bit of will power and its time to use it now..... I feel this will be an interesting week!!
Will I win or will "the habit" win??? Time will tell.

Anyway, just updating and Im happy where Im at at the moment. Really hope this positivity continues.

Nall on everyone,

Warm thoughts to you all,
Falling

Hi Falling,

Thank you for posting this. I have not been here for awhile. I noticed that your pre-TSM and first 5-6 months numbers are similar to mine and I'm kind of stuck here close to the 6 month mark. Much better than pre, but a bit stalled. I'm encouraged to see that you've made more progress recently, even if not as much as you had hoped, because that gives me hope that I will soon be able to manage a day AF. Hasn't happened yet, there's work to do, but I'm encouraged. So thank you.

Hi Expatsia,

Thank you for your encouraging remarks. With my numbers I didnt think it would encourage anyone. The main thing is to keep going as you are. I, like you, became very discouraged at my lack of progress, but it has been said many, many times that progress is different for everyone. We all wish to be the fast responders, but not me!!!
Anyway I will continue to work at this no matter how long it takes. I seem to be falling in to a pattern of about 2 A/F days a week so far - that is managable for me. Before you know it, it will happen for you too! I am in week 43 now, but I have read a lot of people hit the year mark or more before they see a difference. I know its a magic pill and I sometime get impatient waiting for the "cure" but "Rome didnt happen in a day" and I never drink without the golden rule!

Best of luck on your journey and know that we are all struggling together!

falling
