Thanks Chrissie and Gotthegene,

Chrissie, The picture is hillarious! Add 20 years, less hair, and some love handles and it would look just like me...

So I spent six days in Greece and had a great time with my family. I was AF the whole time. I am not making an effort to abstain, I simply don't want to drink. The feeling, the hangover, the insomnia, blaaaah! Not saying that I won't drink again...

Larry,
That is the $20k question. I have been using NAL since February. I have responded quickly but I am a binger and not a daily drinker. I have noticed that daily drinkers take more time on the NAL before they see their numbers reduce. I am a creature of habit so I try to replace bad habits with good ones. For me exercise is the key.

So, 4 months isn't a long time and the Nal will continue to work on you but you may try to exert some will power into the equation as well. Are you recording and tracking your numbers?

Eric

Well done on staying AF in Greece! I agree that replacing the drinking 'habit' with another habit really helps.

Nal -on!

This will be my weekly progress update so as to get me back on my weekly routine...

Had a great time with my brother, sisters, nephew, and niece for the two weeks they were here. I abstained the entire time because I still don't quite trust myself. Ate lots of food and took the two weeks off from the gym. Tomorrow I have to go back to work and back to my routine, looking forward to the routine, not work.

It's been over a month since I had a drink and until last night I wasn't missing it but after my bike ride I got a craving for a beer and whiskey...the craving passed without any real will power on my part. I guess Jack Daniels was a bit lonely downstairs in the cupboard...

I hope everyone has a great week,

Eric

Weekly progress:

I was AF till Friday night and I decided to have a drink and Saturday I drank four pints in three hours at a neighbors birthday party. I took my nal and everything stayed in control.

Great to hear about all those AF days Eric! I hope the 4 beers in 3 hrs is a non-issue and the Nal continues to work. Look forward to hearing how this week goes. Wishing you the very best!!!! Thanks for posting.

That's awesome on the AF days Eric.

There is an aspect of TSM that isn't really discussed in Dr. Eskapa's book and not much on this board and that is using some control over our drinking.

I believe, as do other, that there is some value to making the decision not to drink. IMO, part of our abusive drinking is simply a matter of routine/habit. NAL gets rid of the craving, but it does nothing to deal with the habit of drinking. I think it is really easy to drink at a certain time just because we have always drank at that time even if we aren't really craving it (NAL is doing it's job). I believe we need to make an effort to decide not to drink at our regular drinking times once NAL starts to extinguish the craving to drink.

A little late for my update but I have been AF since my last post.

Spent Sat. evening at the pub and drank diet coke and water, really don't feel like drinking.

So....

Great news Eric!! I think what Q said last here bears repeating. Makes a lot of sense. I know that I'm dealing more with the daily habit now than I am the craving. My craving has been almost nil for weeks now....thanks for this info Q.

So great to see success like yours Eric!
