I never did create a status page last time, but this time around I want to do it right. Almost called myself "Pilgrim" so I could call this "Pilgrim's Progress," but thought better of it.

Went to dinner tonight at my favorite watering hole, which normally would have involved at least four pints, followed by a stop at the store on the way home, followed by as many of a six-pack as I could down.

Tonight, I had two beers and just felt I was done. I've been on my second try at 75mg for about two weeks, and this is the first time I've felt like something was happening. I remember having the honeymoon effect last time, but it was immediate, not delayed by two weeks. Dunno if that means anything, but tonight I'm celebrating a little victory over the sauce.

We'll see how it goes from here.

Glad you felt the effects of Nal, last night, long may it continue! Maybe 75mg is what you need.

This is my second time around. The first time, it was for about a year and a half. I saw some pretty impressive gains, but then I hit a plateau and I guess I just got tired of waiting for the cure. This time I've upped my dosage to 75mg, and am willing to go higher if need be. I don't really see any alternative, except more of the same downward spiral.

I hope so, Curi. Had three glasses of wine tonight, and that seems to be enough, which surprises me a little because I can usually go until there's none left. There are four bottles in the kitchen, but I don't really have any desire to open 'em. And that's unusual, to say the least.

I agree with Curi....because the experience you are describing now is very common for those in the initial few weeks of taking the Nal. Sound's like you've nailed the right starting dosage for yourself this time.

Keep us posted on your progress. Are you keeping a drinking diary? Assuming you are, as you can see most of us put the details in our profile-signature file. Looking forward to seeing yours.

All the best.

Thanks, Dab. I kept a diary last time, but it just began to feel like a hassle so I quit. Turns out I'm basically lazy. I think this time around I'm just gonna watch how things go and adjust my dosage accordingly.

Kinda went overboard last weekend. Some friends were getting married and there was an open bar at the reception. They also had a bartender who was clearly an enabler. ;) But last night I had three Newcastles and quit, and I can go a day or two AF, so maybe that's progress.

If you can go a couple days AF, that is huge. If you can try to make it a couple days AF each week, that is doubly huge....Keep at it! Sounds like you are doing well.

Started TSM Aug 2012. Had some success but over time the Nal SEs were so awful that stopped taking Nal. Managed a 30 day (Sept 2012) and 46 day (Feb/Mar 2013) AF period which also contributed to getting drinking under control.

Thanks, GTG. Backslid a bit last night at a concert, but I recall that it happens quite a bit for the first few months, so I'm not gonna overanalyze. Just got my scrip refilled, so it's full steam ahead.
