Hey everyone. Just checking in. Another week down and all is well. Managed an AF day this week which I needed. Units are still down. Today I opened a beer at 5.30pm to watch the football and finished my second just earlier at 9.00pm. Craving wise... I don't really crave once I get started now but I still think about a drink when I'm not. I'm not reading to much into this as its still early and I'm over the moon with my progress. I'm gonna shoot for 2 AF days this week coming.

Updated...

Week 1... AF 9.0 9.0 7.0 5.0 6.0 6.0 (42)
Week 2... AF 7.0 7.0 6.0 6.0 AF 5.0 (31)
Week 3... 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0 7.5 6.0 7.5 (45)
Week 4... AF 7.0 6.0 7.0 3.0 5.0 5.0 (33)
Week 5... 3.5 7.0 5.5 5.0 5.0 4.5 4.5 (35)
Week 6... 5.5 4.5 6.0 AF 5.5 4,5 3.5 (29)

Best of luck to you all...
Thomas.

Week 7 update.

Updated...

Week 1... AF 9.0 9.0 7.0 5.0 6.0 6.0 (42)
Week 2... AF 7.0 7.0 6.0 6.0 AF 5.0 (31)
Week 3... 6.0 6.0 6.0 6.0 7.5 6.0 7.5 (45)
Week 4... AF 7.0 6.0 7.0 3.0 5.0 5.0 (33)
Week 5... 3.5 7.0 5.5 5.0 5.0 4.5 4.5 (35)
Week 6... 5.5 4.5 6.0 AF 5.5 4,5 3.5 (29)
Week 7... 3.5 AF 4.5 AF 5.5 4.0 4.5 (22)

Managed 2 AF days this week but only really down to leaving my meds with a friend. Still don't have the power to just leave it yet. I could have just drank right through everyday as my units are so low but I'm trying to have a few wash out days so as to get a bit of cardio in on my day after.

If you'd have told me at the start how things would be going at this this stage I'd have taken it and ran. I'm in a bit of a weird stage at the moment. Now and again I'll start out with the intention of pushing it but 2-3 beers in the notion has worn off. I've even tried drinking out of a glass which I don't really do as I tend to drink faster but this hasn't made much difference.

Walking home through the local park on my way home from my walk this morning I walked past a guy just getting stuck into his beer. This would be sort of like someone walking past their favourite bar. I used to love drinking in the park just watching the day go by. The memories are still there and I did get a bit twitchy but to be honest I couldn't see myself hitting it today. Before TSM I'd be getting ready to go buy some beer and hit that park not knowing how I'd end up. I'd probably already have been on the tear all weekend.

Even if I did go out and start on it early today. As long as I took my Nal I'd probably have 2 beer ad head home but I don't want to temp fate. This leads my to another thing. I have no doubt TSM is working full flow for me but I was contemplating testing myself out with different types of beer or maybe even a few ciders. I just drink one brand of beer which is fairly low in ABV. I'd just like to confirm to myself its still going smoothly with say a higher ABV lager. Would I still stop at 2-3? I don't know hopefully. I don't really see why not.

Anyway, that about it. Stay safe everyone ;)

that's great. seems to be working textbook for you. i noticed you had 2 AF days. did you put forth effort for that, or did it come pretty naturally? i dont know if you read dr eskapa's book or not. i was wondering if you experienced receptor upregulation? its where you or more sensitive to endorphins since the naltrexone is gone.

take care, mark.

I still struggle with AL free days mate. Before TSM I had to buy beer for that night only as I couldn't have any in the house as I'd drink them. Since starting TSM I've been leaving my Nal with a friend if I'm after a few AF days. The pull is still to great but I'm not thinking about it to much as my progress has been really good so far. Regarding up regulation... I make sure I do some high intensity cardio on the day after my wash out day. I haven't really felt any difference in what you might call an endorphin rush but its still good to do.

I've been thinking about getting drunk a bit more than usual the last week or two but I'm not really worried as I'll never take a drop without first taking the Naltrexone. I'm going better than I thought I would be at this stage so you have to expect its not going to be all smooth sailing.

your progress looks good to me. its obvious tsm works on you. im curious to see when you have an AF day without even thinking about it. im not even going to attempt an AF day for the first month. do to my occupation, i have to do intense workouts every morning for an hour, 5 days a week. im gonna start taking up yoga, just for AF days, when i get there. ive done yoga a few times, and im in very good shape for an alcoholic, but yoga destroys me.

Hey,

Had to make another account (Don't want to get into it) Sorry if the user name is confusing anyone but its me all the same. I'm 20 weeks in and things are going well. I'm at a strange point. I suppose I could say I have things under control but as I'm shooting for total abstinence I've a way to go yet.

I still crave most days but not like before. Most nights I have 2 maybe 3 beers. Some days the urge to get drunk gets the better of me but it doesn't get to far. The few times it has I haven't got totally out of control.

I'm trying not to over think things. Its been more than I could have hoped for this far. I suppose I'm hoping I'll wake up some morning and the urge to even think about booze will be away but I think this might be wishful thinking.

I'm averaging about 2 AF days per week. I still find it hard going AF even though when I drink its not to harmful levels. Its still more than I'd like to be drinking though. Part of me caves in as every session hopefully speeds things up. Maybe this is wishful thinking also and I'm using it as an excuse to drink. Its nearly impossible to catch a buzz off of 3 beer spaced over 4+ hours so its strange to me as to why I can't just leave it at this point. Only time will tell.

Sounds like you're doing great! Have you tried a hobby to distract you from alcohol? Have you tried forcing a significant af period? That may help break the cycle. After quiting drinking during my pregnancies I never resumed drinking to prior levels. I really do think breaking the habbit really helps with the extinction process.

Hey Ava,

Routine definitely has a part to play but I'm finding it hard to break. I don't really have much hobbies. There is a key moment between 5pm-7pm where if I beat it I'd go that night without drinking.

I've actually started drinking more often since starting TSM but I think some people do this as to try and speed things up a bit. Its a mind game for sure. Some nights I battle if I should have a drink and once I decide to take the Nal I feel like changing my mind.

As I say, my units are that low I'm not doing any damage to myself anymore and if I was shooting for control the battle would be over but I dream about the day I'm totally AF.
