Hello. I wanted to find out the difference between Vivitrol and Naltrexone. I have been reading alot about Naltrexone in pill form but all the Dr's that Ive contacted here in my area only do Vivitrol injections. Is one better than the other?? Thank you

hey red i hope you are doing well. vivitrol is the same as naltrexone but in a shot form and lasts up to 30 days. tsm tells you to use naltrexone a hour before you drink because if you decide you don't want to drink you DON'T take naltrexone that day.so that wouldnt work using vivitrol. my cousin gets the shot once a month of vivitrol. it helped her with her heroin addiction. do you live in the states? if so you should not have a problem getting naltrexone

Hello Larry. Thanks for the information about the difference. I kinda figures the shot would be condusive for TSM but I wasn't completely sure. I do live in the states so I'm going to make an appointment with my Dr. and see if she will prescribe me Naltrexone. the places that I found online that specialized in Vivitrol don't mention Naltrexone (pill form) so I don't know if they prescribe it. I know that it will be lot cheaper to do it that way than to get it from overseas. Thanks again for responding

Hi Larry. Congrats on getting to month 4 and the obsession and cravings are gone, that's amazing. Cant wait till I get there. I was thinking about getting past the habit part just the other day. That seems like it would be almost as hard as getting past the cravings. Thats going to take alot of work for me but it will definitely be worth it, especially if I develop some new and healthy habits. Let me know how your progress is going. I think it would be so helpful to hear about someone else's journey. I think I will start a thread when I get mine to track my progress. Later!!
