Half a glass of wine,

Out of curiosity, have you been taking Nodict from River? This is the Naltrexone that River sells.

Thanks,

Q

Hi Q - I posted on your thread about this, but it is worth repeating here. Yes, I was taking River's Nodict for 14 months and saw some improvement, but only modest. When I got prescription Naltrexone at about 14 months and started taking that simply by chance I finally advanced to cured status. I definitely think you may be on to something. I will keep this in mind for the future, and am sure glad I have plenty of Revia to use for the long haul when I have that occasional glass of wine.

Sorry I missed that.

I'm convinced now that Nordict simply will not work with TSM unless you chew the tablets. I feel incredible sad about this, as there are likely many people who have given up on TSM or backslid then quite because of Nodict.

Thank you very much for your thoughts and congratulations on your claiming victory and joining the Cured list!

Hey, can this be right? I've been taking River's Nordic from the start....and I "think" it works. Q, what are you taking now? Sorry I don't want to have to go back and read all your stuff, but are you getting Nal from your doc? Do you chew the tabs? I've added back Topamax, .50 am, and .50 pm and that seems to help a bit.

Anyway I hope others will chime in on the Nordic thing....

Hi All - Just reporting in. Still cured. I have at most two glasses of wine a week when out to dinner on Friday nights, but sometimes I only go out to dinner every two weeks. I am so happy I don't drink wine every day anymore. Life marches on without it and frankly, I don't miss it at all (except for that relaxing glass or two on a Friday night). Can't say that I've seen much change physically. I still haven't lost the wine weight gain, although I have lost a few pounds. However, the change in terms of my attitude, home life, etc. is remarkable.

Hang in there everyone. My journey was long and drawn out, but well worth it in the end.

Started TSM 12/1/10 and cured as of 5/28/12

Wonderful story! Congratulations!

Half Glass, I went back and read your very first post...and then your "Cured" post...great stuff! Truly, truly inspiring, and as you point out - it is very worthwhile, even if it takes longer than we'd planned. That you went from NO problem, to truly "Half a glass" to then "half a bottle" and then 3 times that amount is such a common story. But your road back to almost complete abstinence, with the occasional glass when you like...wow! Idyllic. I appreciate your staying in touch and reminding those of us that are still slogging it out. ;)

I also want to remind readers that a turning point for you was to give up your beloved wine in favor of watered-down Margaritas for a while, which helped get you off the wine...you realized you COULD (live w/o it!) :)

Chrissie - So true, so true. My beloved wine is still my beloved wine in some ways (although I cannot stomach my favorite wine anymore....any red wine), but not the effects of it on my life. Once I made up my mind that I had to give up drinking it daily at home TSM really kicked in for me. As many who have been cured on this board have said, the habit is the hardest to break in the end. TSM cured my addiction/craving, but the habit I had to break myself with sheer willpower and a couple of weak margaritas. Now that I've done that I remember every day with gratitude that but for TSM I would still be drinking wine daily, getting drunk, and making an arse of myself! I am so much happier without that scenario in my life.
