Browsing threads and noticed you hadn't gotten a reply, so let me welcome you. I'm a relative newbie too, and coming at TSM through the back door -- was totally AF for several months, now trying to ease back to controlled, social drinking via a combination of NAL and head work. You can read me blathering on about that in my progress thread. Hope TSM goes well for you.

Larry,

Are you talking about keeping a drinking diary? If so, this is actually a very important step in TSM recovery. Dr. Eskapa's book recommends it and history on these boards show us that many people who are struggling aren't keeping drinking dairies.

Hi Larry,
From my experience, breaking the "habit" is very uncomfortable. Wine w/ dinner got me on this slippery alcoholic ride...then followed by vodka night caps...You have to find a non alcoholic drink that is bearable...for me, it's flavored sparkling water...My cravings have subsided but I'm out of my routine and feel very odd/off. The upside is that my head is much clearer and I function much better during the day. Am also sleeping better. I also found sleeping pills helped me to get to sleep and end the night...otherwise I'm sure I'd be lying in bed wide awake just thinking about the bottle in the next room.
Hope you figure something out soon.

hey goth thanks for the reply. ok let me under stand your craving is down, but yet you think about the botlee. sint that still the obsesion for alchol? the highlight of my day was ,and still is, drinking at night. when i first started tsm that was a concern for me. and after 3 month and ten days it is still a concer. "how am i going to change my old routin" one thing for sure is since i started tsm i get no more hangovers. that was the only reason i wanted to quit. i dont get no more hangover but eventualy i have to stop drinking 10 beers every night . and do this forever. anyway keep in touch

Larry,

I was reading about your 10 beers a night ritual. I have not seen you post in a while. I'm wondering how your are doing. Your profile says you logged in a couple weeks ago.

Take care.

hi everyone its been a while. I'm on month 10 and my drinking has increased i emailed both dr.s
escapa dr.sinclair with my concern and basically dr. sinclair replied back saying what i described in my email that i fall in the 20 percent range. im still hanging in there i will give it another six month.i will tell all of you one thing.i had somewhat of a porn addiction and tsm CURED that completely. so i guess GOD wanted me to deal with booze the hard way.im doing really good over all. me dabs always text each other he is a good freind and very supportive. i figured if tsm does not work i will die with a can of beer in my hands.LOVE YOU ALL YOU GUYS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IN MY PRAYERS Q,DABS,CURIOS ONE,CRISSI,GOTH

This post is just for the guys....

I heard christopher has a porn addiction, too. Exactly how did that work? Take a pill, wait an hour, watch porn (self-pleasure?). My church had a poster about porn addiction and I swore when I went to the website it was going to mention naltrexone, but it didn't. I was very curious about that. Maybe those ten extra pills I have.....

 You

How did you know? I don't think I ever mentioned that here.

On a different note, the weekend I started Nal, I chose to quit dipping. Snuff, Grizzly Wintergreen Long Cut. I quit that cold turkey on Nal day three and have not purchased any since Jan 21st. I think Nal mixed with a bit of nicotine gum helped out. I already had the nicotine gum, because I would not dip in front of family, so I would use nicotine gum at home or at family functions. My youngest would lecture me about it or throw it away.

I wish my nal vs boozin was working so well. I've went from about 5-4mg gums a day to about 1-2mg gums every other day. (I did bum a few dips from my buddies when the wife was out of town and I was on the weekend bender from hell 12 days ago.)
