Hi everyone

Long time no speak! I answered Curi's message via PM on MWO site, but no I didn't take Nodict. Only Revia by Bristol-Myers. I stopped taking the nal as I've been titrating up with the baclofen. I have to take that 3 or 4 times a day, so started to feel I was rattling with all the pills! And like I said, the nal was having no effect whatsoever. I'm up to 110mg of baclofen and have had trouble sleeping the past couple of weeks. That's been hard. On the positive side, hubby says i less anxious, more tolerant and better able to think outside the square.

I was sneakily drinking for a while as the GP who is prescribing me baclofen said not to stop drinking, but hubby was of the opinion I couldn't drink again. Of course hiding wine in the wardrobe was counterproductive and hubby is not silly - I must have been slurring my words after a bottle of wine! Anyway the GP convinced me to bring hubby along to an appointment. So now he is on board and I'm drinking out in the open again. A couple of times I've been able to have one or two, but mostly it's still a bottle. But I'm not going out to get more, thank God! Also the good news is i didn't lose my licence!! Silly me! The cops took my keys and dropped me home, but i must have been under the limit as they didn't take me back to the station for an evidential test. PHEW!!!! So I sooo do not want to risk lsoing my licence again.

I've felt good about encouraging hubby to take on a new staff member and get rid of a friend who was working for us temporarily. He was too unfit and took every opportunity to lean on a shovel and roll another ciggie, so he was not making us any money. We advertised online and our new guy who starts tomorrow rang us 5 mins after the ad was placed!

Also have finally persuaded hubby to have a patch up job done on the paintwork on our house. My counsellor said i need to ask for what i want. Sometimes i need to ask 20 times over 3 years before i get what i want!

My group sessions at Community A & D services (CADS) have been great as i can be honest about what I'm doing. Also have told a couple of AA friends what I'm doing this week. My friend/ex-sponsor has vanished (after being my rock and greatest source of support for 5 years) and a few of us are busily texting/phoning etc so i have got more honest with them.

Must dash. I hope everyone is doing well.

Cheers
Sticky ;)

Hi Sticky,

Thanks for checking in with us.

You sound good! :) I'm very happy for you. Yes, asking for things we need is very important! It came as a great surprise to me that people aren't mind readers  but an even bigger surprise was that most people are happy to do what you ask, when it's within reason. And when someone seems reluctant to do what you ask, like house painting for example, it's more often about the person's fears than about not wanting to do what you ask. It might be a question of cost or taking up too much time or not knowing how to go about it or whatnot, rather than not recognizing that you are right and the house does need painting.

I hope your friend is ok!

BAC-on!

curi
