I thought that I would post an update although there is not a lot new to report. I gave up counting units as they were usually only estimates anyway and I haven't see a lot of change. I've been religious however about taking the Nal one hour before drinking. I think in the 15 months that I have been on TSM there has been only one time that I drank without Nal.

I think that I will be a perfect test case to see if Nordict does not work with TSM. I have been taking only Nordict over the past 15 months and have some success but far from what I expected. My weekly consumption is still in the upper 40's to low 50's, but I have not had any blackouts.

I have ordered three months supply of Nal from AllDay Chemist and will switch over to that as soon as it arrives. I will be sure to keep everyone posted on the results.

Hi Diver,

I too am taking Nordict but after reading some info here I chew my tablets each time religiously as they say that makes them more effective, but still am stuck with high numbers.

Like you I dont have any more blackouts and I know I still have to be patient as Im only taking it for 8 months, but tonight Im going to take one and a quarter tablets to see how it goes! Who knows that extra little bit might just be the secret. I think its worth a try.

Im also after starting to take the supplement Kudzu to see if that kick starts anything!

Thank God for this forum and the info it provides as between us al we might get to the bottom of how it works for some more than others.....

Work in progress,

Best of luck and I for one will be very interested to see how your new nal works out. Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Take care,
FallingToPieces

Just wanted to post a quick update. I have been chewing the Nordict for the last couple of weeks and it is hard to tell if that has made a difference. The Naltima from ADC has arrived at home, however I am traveling this week on business so I have not tried it yet.

Starting tomorrow my plan is to switch over to the Nal from ADC and begin tracking my units again. I stopped tracking my units after over a year - since I wasn't seeing any huge change and they were estimations anyway.

Well I'll check in soon to let you all know how the Nal experiment is going.

Have a Great Weekend,
Diver

Thanks for keeping us posted. I've been using Nal from ADC but have not been using it long enough to give any real hope or inspiration. I appreciate reading about your journey.

Well I thought that it was time to update my progress. It has been three months since I switched over from Nordict from River to Naltima from ADC. I haven’t noticed much difference, I’m still stuck in the plateau where I am able to stack together 3 AF days during the week, but when the weekend rolls around lookout! Still consuming way too much during the weekends typically about 30 units from Friday night through Sunday.

Two weeks ago my 15 year old daughter decided to experiment with tequila and got violently ill. This event has really made me feel guilty about being such a poor role model to her and my younger daughter. I am thankful that I have made the progress that I have with TSM: no more blackouts, a reduction in units and no more drinking first thing in the morning. This along with being able to string together more AF’s has been encouraging and real progress, however I still have a long way to go to be what I would consider a “normal” drinker. As a result I have decided to order some Bac, and will be adding that to my regime as soon as it arrives.

Anyone with advice on Nal + Bac combo, I would appreciate it if you could share it with me.

Best of Luck to all on their journeys.

I've been trying baclofen to help minimize the occasional wave of cravings and I've felt I've had some success w/ that. I think from my own experience of taking baclofen when drinking daily and baclofen now mostly AF that the baclofen seems to be more effective if you do have some AF time. At least I don't require as much baclofen (while mostly AF) to have any cravings go away....which in turn helps keep the AF run going. The only side effect I've noticed is constipation...so as you titrate up, be wary to keep a well balanced diet w/ lots of fruits and vegetables. I am extremely sensitive so it doesn't take much to throw me off. Most "normal" people probably will be fine ;-) I also have children and I've been very motivated to stop drinking at home because of them. I watched my alcoholic father binge drink and at about 15 I decided to try the liquor cabinet....mixed everything...scotch, vodka, etc....it was black out city. Scared the heck out of my parents and my dad stopped drinking for a short while but soon returned b/c he couldn't overcome the ADE etc. Poor man didn't have naltrexone, baclofen or anything but AA (which he refused to join) to help him.

Got the,
Thanks for the post, hopefully the weekend will not get out of hand for either one of us. I am coming off of 3 days AF and hope to be able to be a moderate drinker this weekend.

The good news is that the Bac that I ordered arrived in record time from India, now I am in a quandary. I leave Monday morning for a business trip and I am not sure that I want to start the Bac during that for a couple of reasons. The first is that I need to be on the top of my game and do not want to deal with any possible SE’s, and the second reason is that there will be several social evenings where drinking is expected.

I am hoping that anyone out there who has experimented with Nal + Bac can answer a question for me. I am wondering what it is like drinking when taking the combination. I ask this not only to help me decide about next week but also I am thinking that I may want to start the Bac after the holidays.

Thanks,
Diver

I want to update my thread to continue to record my battle with alcohol and on going journey with TSM. I waited until after the holidays to start Baclofen. I have now just completed my second week and I have titrated up to 90 mgs/day divided up into four doses. Thankfully I have not had any major SE's and hope that this continues to be the case. I continue to follow TSM and take 50mgs of Naltrexone one hour prior to drinking.

Thus far I have not seen much difference in my drinking, I am still able to have 2-3 AF days during the week. The weekends however continue to be problematic. I typically consume over 40 units Friday through Sunday, this has not changed since I saw my first reduction when I was able to eliminate my morning drinking on the weekends.
