Well, well, well.....

The Borg show up in my sector and so does Q. We meet again!

I have mixed feelings on seeing you show up on this forum the way you did Q, however, your presence is good for both old timers and new comers really. It will show that mistakes can be made, and that TSM is a book that can be read over and over if need be.

I just thought I'd check the board and saw you here. The topic of this thread...I found very interesting and hopefully enlightening, because I have some experiences that I would like to air.

That being said,(thinking back) my success started with my first order of NAL which was from Alldaychem. I saw a great deal of success early on. My drinking frequency has diminished to about every 6 months now. I still have no real urge. HOWEVER, It wasn't until after I started taking Nal from River that I started to question the efficacy of the product. I noticed that the level of control that I had previously found was going away. Control in relation to how much I drank on a given drinking bout. I started drinking too much again, but my frequency was still slowing down. I didn't want to admit that TSM wasn't working for me in that way. It got to the point where I was about to just say, I quit for good, because I can and could. It has become too dangerous for me to drink....what happened to that level of control I gained in the beginning? Don't get me wrong I could probably go a year or more without drinking at this point, if not longer. Its just when I do drink, I drink too much (again).

So now... reading this thread, seeing people talking about what I was thinking. I think there may be something to the theory between brands. My wife was amazed at the results early on, then later said the pill was BS, it didn't do anything. She was right and wrong. Because (I think) it was killing my urge to go binge drinking, but... it had no affect on how much I consumed when I did.

So let's not spread it around here that Nordic is not a good product, or that you have to chew it. I think we have to assume it's fine unless we KNOW differently.
Are you kidding me? I absolutely disagree wholeheartedly with that statement. NEVER assume anything when it comes to TSM. Q has never been known to toss things out lightly. If one person notices it, then it could be just them, if 20 people notice it, we got ourselves a pattern.

So guess what, I won't be ordering from River any longer because I have my own personal experience with it. Ill order from Allday (the place I first bought the pills and saw success) and test it out in the next few months when I actually feel like drinking again.

Anyway, had to pipe in on this one, because I think there is something to it.

Chins up! to all who question the process, because it does work. The end result may not be what you expected, but you'll be grateful all the same.

Finally joined in on posting today for the first time.
Im new to the forum but have been reading posts for the past 8 months - started TSM on 31st Jan 12.
When I get used to posting I will put in my numbers.
In Jan pre TSM i drank prob around 70 units. Im in week 28 and my units are about 50- 60 and are even up this week(71) cos hubby is away. Im really concerned about the conversation at present re Nordict. Im in Ireland and can only get nal from Riverat the moment.
From day 1 i chewed the tablet as I read on here that it was more effective that way. I know control is further down the road as its still early days, and whilst I am seeing positive things (last nite I stopped at about 11 units - previously I wouldnt even remember gonig to bed) my numbers are still ridiculously high.
However I have to continue with this and Im totally convinced it works - I guess Im just getting a bit impatient.
Thanks Q and hapful for your very informative info re nordict - it worried me a lot!!!

Hi Hap,

It is nice to run into some of my ole TSM friends, but I wish it was under better circumstances.

Fortunately, we all have a place to come and share our experiences and support each other regardless of where this journey takes us.

Hi Q,

It's nice to see you posting on the boards again, you know your stuff, though of course I'm sorry for the reasons that brought you back. Still, you know what you have to do and that it will work, I hope that takes some of the anxiety out of things.

If you ever become tempted to drink without Nal after you regain control again, maybe try reducing the quantity first, say 3/4 then 1/2 etc... it seems to be working for me.

Here's to control!

Thanks so much for the encouragement CuriousOne. It is very much appreciated!

I only stopped taking NAL because I though it wasn't working. I had actually been cured for over 2 years and spent months abstinent. Things started to go down hill for me when I started taking Nodict in the fall of 2011 during football season. My wife and I season football tickets, so we are at tailgaters every weekend and AL is flowing. It was a perfect storm situation. I had bad NAL and was put in a situation to drink. My drinking slowly increased from October through Jan-Feb of this year, then I gave up NAL all together in early 2012 and just started drinking without it until July of this year. By this time, I was back up to my 60-70 units per week.

Oh man - you are very smart to get back on the TSM horse (with something other than Nodict) prior to football season starting up again. I'm on record all over this forum as saying that tailgating can be one of the biggest triggers out there.

I noticed you're from Oregon - Ducks or Beavers?

Hi Q: I had a similar experience a couple years ago and relapsed when I went off Naltrexone.

It took about 2 - 3 weeks of being off of Naltrexone for me to go back to step one. The really terrible thing is, it took just as long to get back to a place where I was really in control again, which for me was about 9 months. (Though it was easier the second time; my drinking wasn't as heavy or out-of-control as it was initially). It was still difficult and not something I ever want to repeat.

My advice to anyone is that it is simply not worth it to mess around once you have made progress with TSM. For example, I keep Naltrexone in my keychain and I set an alarm on my phone to remind me to take it if I think there's even a chance I'm going to be drinking after work.

Wow, so I'm not the only one who took the sad decision of drinking again without Nal!
I also have mixed feelings about this. In one hand, I'm sorry for your relapse, Q. But in the other hand, it's kind of relieving to know that I'm not the only one who did it.

Good luck for us all. I 100% sure that TSM will work again, we just have to stick with it.

P.S.: English is not my native language, so I apologize for any errors in the grammar or sintaxe of my text, ehrrr... :P
