I have been following this thread over the past week or so, and thought I'd chime in. I have experience with both River's variety of Nal and US prescription (Barr) Nal. The contrast between the two types of pills from a compositional standpoint is definitely apparent. But what's strange to me is that the Nal from River looks decidedly "uncoated" compared to the prescription Nal.

River: flat, yellow-ish, chalky, strong unpleasant taste, plain appearance.

Barr: plump, white, coated, no taste, imprinted "B" logo.

I can speak to the efficacy of both types, so I'm wondering if I had ordered Naltima instead of Nodict from River. Perhaps the representative from the company (DCM) can clear up the differences between the two brands they offer, because whatever I used during my first few weeks* of TSM worked like a charm.

*I started off using my River supply exclusively before moving to my prescription medication.

Hester,
Very confusing the Nordict that I have from River has a light coating that is light peach color. I do think that River does offer both Nordict and Naltima, so maybe that is what you got. The pills come in foil that have Nordict written on it.

I know that the first scrip i received 1-1/2 yrs ago was different that the 2nd and the subsequent sets that I received. My last was the Nodicit, and has been since the 2nd set that I rec'd. I have been struggling , wondering what was happening. For the past three days, since I read this thread, i have been chewing these foul tasting pills, and i definitely have experienced a difference. I had just ordered a new supply of 120, so I will keep chewing and then seek another source. I am very, very disappointed in River Pharmacy. The meds are not cheap, I have been a faithful customer and I feel that the money I spent has been wasted.

I have been using Nodict after control. My numbers kept going up. For the past week I have been chewing my tablets and I am feeling much better. The film does matter.

If you chew, be sure to have something to wash it down with. It tastes absolutely nasty.

This is the exact experience I had Heavy Fuel. I thought something was wrong with me and TSM just stopped working. I also experienced what you did when I chewed NAL that I had historically felt with NAL, but had forgotten about it. The euphoria of taking the first drink wasn't there, I felt sleepy (a side effect I always had with NAL) and I had a wicked hang over the next day (another thing I used to always get with NAL).

Yes, it does taste horrible, but washes down quick. :)

The thing that is really pissing me off right now (sorry for the language) is that we have the owner of River in here trying to convince us that there is nothing wrong with Nodict, when several of us (and I'm sure countless others who just bailed on TSM) are reporting the exact same experience with Nodict. I am almost sick to even think about the people who lost hope and just stopped using TSM, like Houtx, because of Nodict. I'm am sure she was taking Nodict. Now that we know, we need to make sure no one else gets hurt by Nodict.

Actually Q, Houtx was taking the "real deal" from her DR.

But geez, I can't even COUNT how many of us on River Nal dropped out after no success!

Some of us moved back over to MWO and are still trying there .... but so many are just now gone. Feel the same as you Q - how many gave up because is was a Nal that was not working for this program? Makes me very sad ....

Wow ok, just saw this thread now.

I can concur that I have similar experiences with the River pills. I started out on a successful tear. My consumption was in check, and well on my way to no problems.

I used to get that tired feeling and look, people would actually say I looked a bit hagard lol, which I didnt like, and I didnt like the feeling that I needed to take a nap, on the alldaychem stuff. Then I ordered from River, because I think it was cheaper or somthing, a good amount, and thats when things started to go downhill. Didn't really get that side effects and my consumption went up on any given drinking night. However, the urges to actually go out and drink still remain very low to none.

I can say that this has caused some damage too, to some relationships from losing control drinking. This didn't happen on the alldaychem stuff. So I'd like to send out a nice, KMA river! I won't order from you again. Ill pay more for peace of mind.

I have not tried crushing or chewing the river stuff, in fact, I think the pills got thrown away by accident. Not a huge deal, because I don't care to go out and drink, and can easily wait to order some more. (I wouldnt be able to do that a few years back)

I believe its extremely important for people to be aware if this issue, especially early on in their TSM careers. If crushing up the pill helps, great do it, chew it, whatever works.

Thanks for starting this thread, I fell I am not going crazy after all. I had suspected something with the brand.

I TOTALLY agree with Q and hapful!

It would be totally irresponsible to not explore this potential “bomb threat”.

I would really like to see this thread keep going and see how many of us that “dropped out” were taking Nordict. I’m even going to email a few people (some of the pioneers) and see where they are at and what they were taking. I suspect there are a number of us, still struggling and pop in now and again.

Q – or anyone. Where is Bob these days? SpringRider?

I am almost tempted to try again. My weight loss with Topa is insane and while it worked great for me, I look like a zombie with my height and weight. Had to stop.

I now have an “undercover” DR that does not have any of my real information. So I could get the real deal without it being on my med records.

REPEATED WARNING: Do NOT get Nal on your medical records. It is NOT prescribed for anything “off label” and will follow you around for years as an addiction. Q knows firsthand … as do others.

I've not seen Bob3d nor SpringerRider on here in quite awhile.

I have SpringerRiders email addy. I will drop him a note to see if he'll pop in and let us know how he's doing. I may also have Bob's email addy. I'll do some digging.

FYI: N101CS told me he was taking Nodict and often wondering why he saw only limited success with TSM. He eventually stopped taking NAL and tried a few other methods before going abstinent.
