I am getting a little worried. I started my nal yesterday around 5 and felt fine. drank wine and ate no dinner cuz not hungry(which is odd for me, but not unheard of if i'd been drinking) but when i woke up realized, hmm, really didn't have much for lunch yesterday, just fruit and pasta salad (was at a camp picinic for my son's school and we are vegetarian). then today, woke up felt fine, then started feeling kind of sick. i had to force down some kashi with soy milk and strawberries for brff st and felt semi nauseous all day. couldn't eat lunch, ate a yogurt around 4 to take my med. cuz read not to take on an empty tummy. have been drinking pinot noir and feeling REALLY SICK and no appetite whatsoever at all. but, if i don't eat dinner that means in two days i had fruit salad, a few bites of veggie pasta sald, a half a bowl of kashi with strawberries and some yogurt. it's nearly 10 pm and i have some lovely sundried tomatoes and fresh basil, fresh mozzarella cheese and fusili pasta i was planning on tossing with some olive oil but i have ZERO desire to eat, everything sounds just, yuck! but i know i should. should i force myself or maybe eat some soup or something? anyone else have this reaction? feeling sick, tired, weak, and generally put off by the idea of food in general which is not normal bc usually i have a good appetite for healthy foods.

I dunno - and am sorry you are feeling yucky, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm suddenly in the mood for a light pasta dish & a glass of pinot noir. LOL

i made myself the said yummy pasta dish and it was quite good. but i ate about 1/4 of what i normally would have. like a tiny bowl, and after all that chopping! oh well, if this keeps up, i can have it for dinner every night for the rest of the week and not have to worry about cooking! anyhoo, only had about 4 glasses of wine, dunno if its cuz i am feeling sick or what, but i just do not feel right. anyone else feel weird when starting? i feel like i am on perscription opioids or something, like codiene or lortab or something. it is so strange. i also went number 2 like 5 times, not to be gross just being honest and sharing my experience to be helpful. wtf? is this just me or did anyone else react this way? i feel really really good in like, a euphoric way, but physically, its gross, thats why i hate drugs and *love* the alcohol. never sick till the end or the next day. but they all f***ing suck and will ruin your life if you can't master em.

hi misskris, I have experienced a loss of appetite, especially in the beginning the use of the Nal. But as I am on an emotional roller coaster that may have been the reason for my loss of appetite. Then I did get major ice cream cravings. And the reason maybe that it is a comfort food.
I hope you feel better, and I am sorry you are having trouble.

houtx you are a real gem! such a wit!

Best to all for now.....

I wish I could say anything even remotely like this but my appetite did not change even in the slightest from Nal. Even though my doc said it would. I am not huge I am 150 pounds and 5 feet 6. I have a little belly I thought I could get rid of because of Nal but............

I had a similar experience to yours, and my appetite was very depressed for a few weeks. Now that my drinking levels are down, my appetite has returned with a vengeance. I'm really in the mood for healthful foods, and find myself shopping for stuff that's both yummy, and healthy. We were eating out 5X a week or so - that's down to 2 or 3, and will probably get to be even less.

I've definitely started to notice that my appetite is MUCH stronger on non-drinking days. I think this has always been true, even before Nal. But since I was drinking everyday before, I didn't notice it until I started having an AF day here and there. Not sure if I'm trying to make up for the "high" on the AF days or not. I have lost about 20 pounds in the past year, which is a lot when you're 5'2" - but my stress and constant drinking might have played a role, or maybe wacky hormones in middle age. Because I didn't really try to lose it. But, even if I start pigging out when not drinking, I'll take the extra pounds over being a hopeless drunk!

I've had a suppressed appetite for the entire Nal experience. My wife "makes me" eat lunch on weekends, but when I'm at work, I just skip it entirely. My hunger drive is quite suppressed and I never get hunger-pangs any more when I've gone the whole day with no food at all. I think my weight is being maintained entirely by the high caloric Guinness Stout.

Bob
