Bob, you're celebrating AF days in other threads, but letting this thread get you down? You've been an inspiration to me, don't think of quitting now!

If anyone here has read Bob's post on his units looks like he is ready to leave us. I am hoping that the good doctor will respond soon in a direct way to the benzo dilema. He has said something like hamper but not that it would not work. I am only taking a low dose and am still hoping for good results. As most of you know nothing has changed for me however. If this will not work I would hope that we would be told soon. Why was none of this mentioned before??????

Bob, why are you giving up? Do you have a better solution on hand? The Dr. did NOT say TSM doesn't work with benzo. . .he said the effects could be hampered. So it takes awhile longer - you've got everything to gain, and nothing to lose, by hanging in here.

I suspect some of your anxiety is b/c you've cut way down on your meds? Also, have you investigated the baclofen option?

I have decided to continue TSM while awaiting Dr. Eskapa's answer regarding benzos. Someone trustworthy PMed me and pointed out that since the opiate receptors are still blocked while on Nal and I am still performing an undesired behavior (drinking), why wouldn't it work, if the science behind the explanation of pharmaceutical extinction is true. It wouldn't matter what meds a person is taking. However, it may affect the duration of the recovery because of the complications of being cross-addicted. Still extinction must still must occur, if opiate receptors are the cause of the addictive learned behavior (alcoholism).

Bob

See ya at the end of the trail.

Please, please do not quit just because of one post. I may be selfish but I can't live with myself knowing that my post dashed the hope of even one person. Stick with TSM. I still am and I am doing ok. I have also thought about giving up but I will not let myself. I am now starting week six. I'm sure the doctor will address this soon. Hang in there.

Bob,
I am looking at your progress and see nothing but good things.

Give this thing a chance. Once I got to AF days, it moved pretty fast.

No that is not true. What would happen was that I have an AF or two and then hit it pretty hard. I did it on Nal, of course. But I would feel disheartned and think I was back-sliding. But that was eons ago and I am so far past that. Look, even the rebounds are part of the cure. They were triggers that had to be snuffed out.

Until proven otherwise, I consider every craving an opporatunity to extinguish more addiction.

Good luck to you and all

I now count days on Nal, rather than drinking days.
