Hi mabelee, and welcome! I'm glad you found us - this is a great place with very supportive members. The book is truly great, in fact it is the best book I have read on addiction.

If you have trouble with nausea, I found it helpful to start at a lower dose (12.5 mg, or a quarter of a pill) and slowly work my way up to the 50 mg level.

You are on the start of a wonderful journey!

Hi mabelee, I too, originally took Nal for abstaining from AL. My Dr. told me to take it before sleep. I did that and used 50mgs right at the start. When I switched to TSM I had no problem taking the Nal in the a.m. (as I am a 24/7 drinker)
Other folks here started with a lesser dose. It really seems like there is a huge difference in peoples's ability to adjust to this Nal. I am very sensitive to meds, so I am surprised I have done so well. I take 100 mgs (50mg 2 x per day) just to cover my habit of 24/7, as per the good Dr.'s instructions on this site.

Hi Mabelee, just a thought are you eating before the meds. I know it is a side affect but I found that if I had something in my stomach before the Naltrexone it helped. I too had the nausea, not bad but the first week on and off. I started slow also on .25mg. for the first week. Try food and good luck!
