Ugh guys it happened again. Had a good workout, then went to dinner with the BF. Had two drinks at dinner and then proceeded to keep drinking at home. Stayed up almost ALL night, just wasting time on the internet and stuff, and fell asleep on the couch. BF is not pleased/worried again. I feel like I'm losing all control. I seriously think I might have to stop drinking for a while or finally take everyone's advice and ditch the bourbon, at the very least. I'm really scared of these grey/black outs to sleep that are happening now and I'm terrified of ruining my relationship over this. Today I am slogging through work trying not to have a panic attack, as BF isn't really responding to my messages and is likely pissed off. :(

I think you should probably just quit drinking. It's unlikely that your drinking is going to improve, and you don't want to lose more than you already have by continuing down this path!

Ditto that (what Tiller asked)...how are you doing, EL? I thought about you this weekend - it was my birthday and I engaged in a few..."extinction bursts", myself

Spacious, I'm gonna hope that you mean well and are not just a troll...because that's an incredibly hurtful thing to say, especially since I imagine you have not read all 49 pages or whatnot of my story (in which you would have seen that nal and TSM have made huge changes in my drinking, even if everything is not super rosy).
I cannot tell you how upset I am about your comment. It's possible you're even right - but you are definitely not someone to tell me that, not knowing me and not having engaged on this forum for a lengthy period of time. As you may have noticed, AA and abstinence don't exactly work well for most people with drinking problems, so it's not even like it's a helpful suggestion.
UGH. I came here to post about my weekend, which invovled one day of not drinking, one day of 3 drinks and one of...more than that, but everything was under control. Now I really can't be bothered to get into the nitty gritty. Sorry.

Hey EL!

Just checking in to see how your doing. I'm surprised by Spacious post, like you said, my feelings exactly. Take it with a grain of salt, I've always said we are our own best judge of what is right for us. I am not going to live my life by someone elses opinion. We know we are doing what is right for us. Keep on the steady path no matter what hills and mountains come your way. You are right where you're suppose to be!

Love, Zip

Yeah, EL, I'm amazed to see that there is still a tendency for me to do that, too: my life is SO much better! Yet Lizard Brain still tries to put sugar in the gas tank along the way, and get things back to her idea of Normal.

The old - & very apt - "diabetic model". Or, as I prefer to think of it as my "being in the 10% of the population that is hyper-sensitive to alcohol". Just as I'm pasty white and must ALWAYS wear sunblock. We are physical entities, and have to work w/ whatever protoplasm recipe we've been dealt. You're young enough to probably be feeling more rebellious than I am at this point, and alcohol is also more part of your typical social settings, perfectly understandable! Have a good weekend, EL.

Hey guys, weekly recap (for last week, which ended on Sunday, I'm a bit behind!). The damage wasn't actually so terrible. 18.5 units, and three AFs. However, 12 of those units were all on one night, so that's pretty terrible. I didn't black out or do anything terrible (other than some questionable karaoke) but the old pull was definitely there, which is still worrying. And I kind of shot myself in the foot for the next day, which was Monday. Grrr. However, back on the horse, and I hope this weekend will be better (I'm going into the weekend with only 6 drinks behind me, so I hope to get below 18 this week.)
As always, thanks for all the support. It's a testament to TSM that now 18.5 units is considered a BIG BAD WEEK, and that one hangover a week feels like way too much ... so there's that.

It's those single days that have always troubled me, still do. Saturday usually is my day because I don't have as many rules. I had to put the moderation methods, because as everyone has noted, the nal only goes so far.

Bright side is important: look how far you have come when 18 is a bad week!

Nal on!!!
