Retread here,
When I take nal and drink I generally get the sweats in the middle of the night. This happens with 50mg and 6 or so units. If I take 25mg and have say, 2 glasses of wine, I do not get these unpleasant effects. I have read various opinions regarding dosage, and I almost always take 50mg regardless as to how much I drink. I am about 5 months into this, however I stopped and started a few times before. Results thus far are limited although I realize it's early in the game. I do find it pretty easy to have two or three af days a week. Does anyone else experience the sweating? Should I try 25mg for a while? Thanks for your comments.

The delayed onset of the symptoms is puzzling: first, naltrexone doesn't react to alcohol, it blocks nerve receptors. The second is the drug has about a six hour half life. For example, after an hour, 50mg in the system, six hours later 25mg, 12 hours 12.5, and on to zero. So, the drug would be dropping in your system at that time.

Do you have some kind of high blood pressure or anxiety? That might be a better explanation.

Thanks Heavy Fuel. That makes sense. I do often take Xanax when I wake during the night, and perhaps the sweating is related to this or is psychosomatic in nature. I did not realize that Nal dropped off so quickly. All the more reason to stick to the recommended 50mg.

Hi Retread

You're not pre-menopausal are you? I have been having night sweats on and off for 3 or 4 years - before I started TSM. It's unpleasant and tiring, but beats having hot flashes during the day!

Cheers
Sticky ;)

No Sticky, being male I am probably not pre menopausal. I have since read a few other posts which make reference to night sweats, so I think this side effect may be common. Anyone else experience this?
