I am sure that I am mentally just challenging the process but I have been trying to drink the way I used to before starting NAL and after the first week my unit went up past my norm instead of down. I will stick with it and I understand NAL + A + patience = cured but this was not an early outcome that I expected.....am I broken, does it mean the meds are not working for me? I was expected a honeymoon period not this!

Don't despair. I never had a big honeymoon period. The pre-TSM numbers in my signature are on the high side.

I would not let your numbers worry you. How much NAL are you taking? IN the early days I kicked it up to 75mg. Did that for a few months. Now I'm back at 50.

This takes time, Jean. For some it takes more than a year. I sure know what it's like to watch the day-to-day ticker, but it also can make you crazy. Keep your eyes on the horizon. You can make it! Many others have.

Thank you Tiller, that was really encouraging for me. I think I drank less the first week because I felt so sick on the first 3 days of NAL, I have only been on 50mg for 4 days, I had to work my way up to that because of side effects. I am going to give it a solid month on the 50mg and if I do not see any change I will got to 65.2 or 75, I am hoping neither of those will be needed. I am so excited but so scared at the same time, I really want this to work, know let me rephase that ..I KNOW it will work if I am patient!

Yep, odds are most definitely in your favor.

The TSM journey is SO different for everyone, and the side effects starting out can really complicate things further. Your are right, starting out, to just drink however feels normal, and let the Nal do it's thing. Keep the faith, and keep posting!

Hi, JeanO! My numbers went up from week one to week two, also. My numbers actually hit my preTSM numbers once, followed by a very sharp drop. I have been up and down and up and down... it's a ride sometimes!

I mean, no one wants to say that you MIGHT be part of the 20% that don't respond to nal. That would be really horrible. That being said, not having a huge honeymoon your first week does NOT mean that you won't have succes on TSM. So keep plugging along and see what happens...it just might be good :)
