Ugh, doctors so annoying! seriously, what bad do they think nal is going to do if they prescribe it???
Anyways, sounds like you're doing great. I would love to be at 1-2 times a week, 10 units a week too...it's funny how the longer I am on TSM, the lower and lower my goals get lol!!!

Hi, Zippy. Sorry your doctor is being such a pain. I think if you look at how you are doing pretty well, you are almost half your previous consumption. If you get right down to it, that’s pretty good progress. The other issues you outlined are even bigger issues!

You don’t lie anymore! That is so huge! You aren’t hiding. And you are facing the world without running to a bottle. What the hell else do they want from you? A “searching moral inventory?” And beg you Creator to remove them? Give us all a break. You are doing fine.

There are a couple of doctors who posted in the doctor’s area. One is in Chicago, and mentioned possibly doing telephone treatments.

Anyway, here is a trick I learned to make sure I don’t lose my posts. If I don’t write them in Word and copy and paste, I highlight and press CTRL-C before I post. If the thing times out, I simply open a new message and press CTRL-V. No muss no fuss!

Good luck in your doctor quest!

The support of this group has been the best. I am tired of being down, I have a really good feeling this morning about the week ahead. Hope and encouragement is the best way I can describe it. A couple of AF day’s this week will also do me good. Still taking it in check moment by moment.

It wasn’t the end of the world, I did drink this weekend without the nal didn’t get outta control. One thing this lesson has taught me was that the Nal does cut down your consumption. After all was said and done my overall total for the week looks pretty darn good.

Had a great Easter with Tommy’s family, he announced our marriage everybody is very happy for us. He has such a nice family, I couldn’t be happier…

Tommy! Oh, it's good to have a name to associate with the feet. That's cool he has a nice family to hook up with - a real bonus.

Boy, we were neck and neck last week on units: I had 21, and NO AF's. A few AFs make a big difference. As I'm trying to get over being a daily drinker, I will really work on that, and so I'm setting a goal of 3 for this week.

You did a very good job w/ your low, low numbers and in spite of drinking w/o Nal. I've done that a few times - skipped the Nal - for a variety of reasons (some better than others). ;) But I've been a little surprised-reassured-disappointed that on those few occasions, the Nal seems to still be working: it felt pretty much the same as drinking ON Nal: lower buzz, less interest, can stop, etc. What was your experience w/o it? But don't worry, I won't push my luck! The last time I drank w/o the Nal, I DID get the "old time" buzz - more like the Magic Carpet Ride was getting ready to leave the station - in other words, STRONG. And guess what? I didn't like it. Maybe like something I read on another thread of a person w/ a similar experience, who no longer liked the feeling of losing control. Yeah, that.

Hi Zippy

What a great list of positives! Also well done on not overdoing it in the weekend. You are doing so well. Glad to hear you had a good time with Tommy's family.

Cheers

I have taking a dive for the worst I really need your support. I had a really rough week, it took till Friday before I could get my Nal and I drank every day. I went through a box of wine and a fifth of gin talk about over doing it. I’m afraid this is going to set me back I don’t know what to think, I am really scared!!! I don’t know how much I drank last week or yesterday for that matter. I started taking the nal yesterday and today, hoping and praying for a return to where I was soon. I’m almost to the point of putting myself into some kind of detox program. I don’t want to go through this again. Not again please Lord!!! Nor do I want to go back to AA, please, please, please save me from this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had a supportive doctor.

Hey, Zip! There are some others who went off naltrexone and started taking it again. They ended up right back to where they were when they went off in pretty short order. I can't remember where I read it, but it's in several threads. Nalwayout actually went down when she restarted, but that was after abstinence.

The bigger issue here is don't run out of nal if you can help it. Make sure you mark a reorder date on your calendar date, or a revisit to the doctor date to keep the supply.

It's over, now it's time to focus on the future. And you have a great future ahead of you. You are light years from where you were when you started TSM! :)

Boy o boy it's been a hard day, had two glasses of wine thinking it would calm me down thru out half of the second thinking to myself why. I'm really going to start buckling down this week and really put in some effort for AF days Damn it I’m mad at myself. I don’t ever want to feel like this again. Waking up shaking feeling so sick from the alcohol every morning, sweating. Yes it took me fast last week, way too scary for me.

Thanks for the encouragement HF!!! I have to remember I’ll only have a bright future if I start putting more effort into it. Put more effort back into my life all the way around, exercise, work, and build my new life with my new man. I have to document this so I don’t ever forget! Only good things will come if I put good things out there. May we never forget!

Oh, thank goodness HF said what I was thinking, 'cause I don't want to sound like a Big Sister (in a bad way! ;) ).

The other thing I'm thinkin' is...you don't report in as much as you used to...maybe that would help you stay on track better??? Just a thought. But at ANY rate, don't beat up on Zippy! we all know that does no good, at ALL. I agree w/ HF: just get right back on the horsie, and move on. Think how much better you can be, by say, your wedding. You don't want to wake up shaky-bad hungover then, right? That's a ways off, and you can be light years ahead by then! :D :D :D

Hey Zip --

You'll make it. You'll get back on track.

Do I understand that you were drinking without the nal? That's bad mojo, pal. If so, don't take it as evidence of what's to come. A bunch of us are back in long-march mode. One foot in front of the other. I KNOW you can do it!
