Just popped 25 mg today to start the TSM....had a few drinks, threw up 3 times...is this normal ? Feeling lethargic but not sleepy...I am enthusiatic about trying this but the way I feel am not sure if this "Cure " is about feeling too crappy to drink or re-wiring my brain.

Throwing ups isn't not exactly normal. Some people are nauseous in the beginning and it goes away. Some are plagued with it. Check out ElectraLou's thread in weekly progress. Nal isn't antabuse. Antabuse is a barbaric treatment that actually increases the desire to drink in some people. Being sleepy or lethargic is normal.

A couple of suggestions: I wouldn't take it on an empty stomach. I wouldn't up my dosage until I was sure of the effects.

The golden rule is nal one hour before drinking, with patience equals cure. If you haven't bought Dr. Eskapa's book, it would help. The only caveat everyone reminds others about is the timeframe to cure. In the collective experience of the board, the time frame is longer.

Good luck on your journey!

I would. Make sure you have eaten something, give it a go.

Hey there,
I've thrown up on nal a lot of times, but I'm a super sensitive stomach kind of person. It's not a usual side effect for most. It is best taken on a full stomach, as others have said. I think empty stomach plus hangover totally explains the throwing up. Ouf sounds horrible. And defintely don't move up to 50mg until these side effects subside.

Just to let you know. I started on nal 2 years ago - it was fine to start off but then I got progressively worse - nausea, severe irritabity, exhaustion to the point where I had to stop it - as I was avoiding taking it. I restarted again in Aug/Sept - and just managed a few weeks - again the severe nausea, tiredness and irritability were too much to put with. Its a shame really as I would have really liked it to work. I really tried all sorts of different ways of taking it - splitting the dose in to 25 and 12.5 doses, eating with a large meal (this did help a little but as I usually drink before eating it wasnt feasible).
