Thank you all for your support. Well just wanted to fill you all in on last night. For the first time in 50+ days, I took my nal and waited. Within 30 minutes, I started feeling so strange. It was a increasingly crappy feeling bordering on nausea. I guess my body is no longer acclimated to taking the full dose of nal. I was not myself at all and did not enjoy, in the least, my two drinks last night. Just felt semi nauseous and increasingly tired. I ended up going to bed early. I woke up with a dull headache around 11pm, took aspirin, then woke up later around 3:00am and still had a headache. More aspirin...... I'm not too axious to repeat that again. Since I won't be drinking daily any more, I'm wondering if I should just take 1/2 a dose rather than the full one. I'll probrably give that a try next time to see if I feel better. In any event, I'm in no hurry to have a drink. So, I guess thats good! :)

Sounds like a hangover without the preceding drunkenness! Ugh. Hope a half dose is better!

That sounds like my experience, Nalwayout. Since I've reached 'my cure' (1-2 drinks per session 1-2 times per week) I now take just 25 mgs, wait one hour, then feel a little dizzy with the first drink.

Usually I'm fine the rest of the night, but the day after my last two sessions I've been incredibly nauseous and tired, where I can do nothing but sleep and vomit, as if it's a hangover from the worst of times! And after only 2 drinks!!

While I've had episodes of nausea from time to time while taking Nal or the day after using nal throughout my TSM journey, these last two times were odd because it was bad and it hadn't happened for several weeks!
I do think it's additional negative reinforcement - why drink if I'm going to feel so yucky the next day. Of course, that never stopped me before (!) but it's definitely different with nal and the re-wiring my brain is going through. I feel the progress continues.

Good luck in your renewed TSM journey and let us know your progress.

Thank you Nip. It does kind of feel like my semi cure. I did not bother to try taking Nal or drinking on Sunday. I felt so crappy(depressed, malaise, semi nauseous ) all day, I just had no desire. Just wanted to feel better ya know. And I'm so glad I didn't bother. I do feel so much better not drinking. I hope this is the beginning of the end.

I really appreciate your input. It's been tremendously helpful to me.

Best wishes,

Yes, the day after NOT drinking I feel SOooo good, I look in the mirror and I look sooo much better than the day after a drinking session - absolutely more positive reinforcement to NOT drink. Again, I've always known this, but only with nal and TSM have I been able to change my actions. Good stuff! I'll take a little nausea if it gets me to the 'cure'!

Nal on!

Well folks I hope everyone is trucking along and having a good week. Its Thursday and I haven't had any drinks since Saturday. Drinking lots of water and feeling pretty positive. I'm thinking that when I go out on Saturday night with my "wine slugging sisters and beer guzzling brother" I'll take just 1/4 of a nal and see how that goes. I just dread the nausea I will feel. I wonder if 1/4 of a tablet is all I can take right now. Saturday I took 1/2 and the next day was awful. If 1/4 of a tablet doesn't work, I may just forget the whole thing and remain abstinent. Its not worth drinking if I feel that bad the next day.

I have to admit, I miss having my wine with no ill effects from the nal. But I guess its a blessing in disquise. It reminds me of when I became pregnant with my daughter so many years ago. I felt sooooo nauseous from smoking, I quit cold turkey! Could this be a repeat story? We will just have to wait and see what happens. Wish me luck guys.

Have a great day everyone, nal on.... :)

I think it's remarkable that you have the power and confidence to say this. What testimony to how far you've come and how hard you've worked to turn your life around. Congrats!!!

Nalwayout, I want to ask about your level of craving...you've done great w/ all the AF days - I really admire that. And now that you can drink again it sounds like you are not, due to the nausea and side effects. So...are you able to drink enough to continue the extinction process? Where do you think you are in that regard? I've really followed your journey w/ interest, your tackling the alcohol and also weight loss so well at the same time.

Chrissie

I have zero craving for alcohol right now. I'm going to try taking 1/4 tablet Nal this weekend to see if I can tolerate it and continue with TSM. I'd like to be able to enjoy my wine again with control. I do miss it sometimes. But last weekend when I took my Nal after 8 weeks of abstinence it had a profound effect on my well being. I felt awful. Sooo right now I don't know what will shake out but I'm very Hopeful.

Hello all,

Well, the 1/4 nal tab definitely did the trick as far as feeling sick is concerned. I took the 1/4 tablet this afternoon and waited 1 hour. Nothing..... 1/ 1/2 hours still nothing. What I did notice was that Iwas so overjoyed that I did not feel sick, I could not wait to have my wine!! My honey bought me the most amazing cab I've ever tasted!!! So, I guess I'm back. To give you all a little research data/value, I think I should have taken 1/2 tablet, fought the nasea and nal'd on. The 1/4 tab was not enough to dull the effects of the alcohol. So, in reality, I'm guessing I'm still not cured. Keep in ming that I cut my treatment short 8 weeks ago becuase I could not stand my overweight condition. So, I guess I'm in reality back on January 9, 2012. I hope you will all be willing to give me the chance to catch up to you...... :))
