Hello Everyone,

Just thought I'd log in to share my status. February finds me 18.2 pounds lighter and totally AF after 25 days. I feel like a million bucks and have'nt been this happy and positive in many months. I've got 10 or so pounds to go in the next 15 days and then its back to TSM. I'm very wary of beginning again but I'm also feeling positive about the progress I've made up to week 32. So we will see how this plays out.

Its funny I notice, everything seems to be going so smoothly without alchohol. My work is up to date, I don't feel stressed and overwhelmed like I usually do this time of year. I have to admit though its a little tough cooking wonderful meals for the family and not having any of it, including the wine. But hey, I get over it quickly and just move on.

I hope everyone is doing great and I'll be checking on your posts to see.

Take good care,
:D

Hi Nalway

WOW!! Well done you! That is a huge weight loss. It sounds like a lot in a short amount of time, not that I'm a diet expert. You must be exerting an amazing amount of willpower to cook for your family then eat hardly any of it. Glad to hear you are feeling heaps better for it. Soon you will have the excuse to buy yourself a whole new wardrobe?!

All the best for the rest of the diet
Cheers

Wow, good job! you're fighting the good fight - no, make that TWO good fights - and winning! It sounds like your strength of resolve is growing as you succeed with both the alcohol and diet. When I'm in diet mode (or any kind of "good" mode), I tend to get rebellious after a while and it leads to a blowout of some sort. But you must be more of a grown up than me! Thank you for sharing your successes.

Chrissie :P

Wow, Nalway - that's a lot of weight to lose in such a short time. Be careful that you don't whittle away to nothing, and I hope such an extreme weight loss is still healthy for you.

This is what it's all about! Congratulations on your continued success with the diet and remaining AF.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to do an update. But really I haven't had a drink now in 53 days so there's not much to say. All I can say is, tommorow is the day I begin TSM again. I'll take my first Nal again and would like to just have a drink or two. I'm so interested to see if I can pick up where I left off. When I ended TSM in January I had experienced control over my drinking although I still drank more than what is considered healthy. I'm hoping I havent lost that. Time will tell. But meanwhile, I've so enjoyed my sobriety. I feel alive and full of ideas, focused and very positive. Its been a great 8 weeks and I'm 30lbs lighter! Yay! Now its time to get back to work on this sleeping giant.......

Wish me luck guys. :D

Nalwayout, you are SO impressive! You did what you said you would (everyone WANTS to lose weight, but you DID), and got great results and now you're going back to get back on the Nal trail. I look forward to reading your progress, after being AF for such a long stretch. You must feel on top of the world, and that seems like a very good place to be for ANY endeavor. :)

IMO, you will simply pickup where you left off. If you aren't drinking off nal, the behavior isn't getting reinforced, therefore not stronger. But you weren't extinguishing the behavior, either. It would follow the behavior is no weaker.

Congrats on the weight loss and AF days! I so wish I was losing weight! Good luck!

Hey N-way: I'm curious about why you want to drink again if you are feeling so great about yourself and life?

This is NOT a challenge to your decision! Just interested in more detail about what's motivating you to go back to TSM at this point. In part because of the others who come to the forum having been abstinent but are considering TSM.

Great work on reaching your weight goal. Really impressive!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I really appreciate it. And hopefully by answering Tillers question it will help someone who happens to read it. Tiller I was abstinent for11+ years but eventually went back to drinking after exposure to pain meds due to several surgeries. Unbeknown to me, exposure to opiates like OxyContin reawakened my addiction even after years of sobriety. So my reason for finishing TSM is my attempt to 'forever' extinguish my addicted brain and avoid any future possibility of relapse. My alchoholism is quite insidious I've found. Just when I thought I was fine, it returned with a vengeance. Hopefully my crazy idea will work . Fingers crossed....

Hi Nalway

Well done on your huge weight loss. That is so awesome! I'm glad you've given your reasons for being back here after abstaining for so long. It just shows the insidiousness of this disease. None of us want to be social outcasts and trying to be AF renders us weird, if not social outcasts. I hope you gain control over alcohol quicker than me. Hope your daughter is doing well too.

Cheers
